As some TRF posters may attest, I was a big Moore critic last year, but the lad’s grown on me this one. He seems more willing to try new things and he is probably the most reliable finisher riding in this country.
Never-say-die clashes between a confident Moore and a sharp-again Fallon in 2010 are mouthwatering prospects to look forward to over the winter.
October 17, 2009 at 13:30 #253809May be those percentages don’t tell the whole story Stilvi. But one thing it does tell us. He ain’t useless.
Think every ride should be judged on its own merits, without wholesale derogitory judgements which are clearly wrong.
No, of course he isn’t useless but perhaps he isn’t quite as brilliant as what some people would have you believe either. They all rode poor races themselves but I don’t think we have the quality at the top of the game that we had with the likes of Piggott, Eddery, Carson and Cauthen. There have been some relatively ordinary champion jockeys in recent years.
October 17, 2009 at 14:47 #253828Not sure that the original post deserves the respect of the response of so many posts.

You might be right Stilvi, it’s always about opinion.
I’d have Fallon ahead of all those, with a possible exception of Cauthen (Piggott third). Moore ahead of Carson with potential to improve further. He is still young. Think some exaggerate Moore’s status; allowing for his age in their opinion. At the same stage of their career Moore is better than Fallon was.
Value Is EverythingOctober 17, 2009 at 17:38 #253871I guess that Beethoven disagrees with this assessment lol
October 17, 2009 at 17:49 #253875Great ride by Moore there.
Fair play to him…that was a cracker.
October 17, 2009 at 17:50 #253877Useless isn’t he.
Value Is EverythingOctober 17, 2009 at 18:22 #253887I would agree on the whole but he’s ridden a couple of crackers over the last two days.
October 17, 2009 at 18:46 #253898Lads im entitled to my opinion.
I dont rate Moore and never have done, maybe I dont know what Im talking about but Im only commenting on what I see, he seems to get his horses into a lot of trouble from what I see, yes the ride on Beethoven was a cracker but for me he rides more bad races than good.
I felt the ride on Leorcarno was terrible. I dont take the point of good ground, this horse stays really well and thats the strength that Moore should of exploited
October 17, 2009 at 19:00 #253903Micks,
Of course you are entitled to an opinion.
Leocorno has been racing over further than yesterdays trip, granted. But has not stayed that trip, taking a keen hold. Even coming down in trip, if a horse usually pulls a jockey’s main task in the first two furlongs is to settle it. If he can do that by tracking pace then all well and good. In this case Moore couldn’t. Therefore, a victim of circumstance.
No doubt those who lost out felt even worse with the stable second string winning.
We all have our favourite and less than favourite jockeys. I don’t particularly have a high opinion of Frank Spenser, but would not call him useless. Where as I am a fan of Seb Sanders (unlike many here).
Anyway,
This forum is all about opinions and hope you stick around.Welcome Micks.
Value Is EverythingOctober 17, 2009 at 19:04 #253904Is this a close relation of Micks[b:2k8394oj]5[/color:2k8394oj][/b:2k8394oj]4321 who gave us the infamous MAXBET[/color:2k8394oj][/size:2k8394oj]..

Ok lets put this to the test
Ryan rides Crytal Capella later this afternoon.
Lets see what happens here, dont know if it will win and thats not what we are putting to the test. Lets see if this horse finds trouble and then we can all comment
October 17, 2009 at 19:59 #253925"Personally the best jockey riding in Ireland is Fran Berry…he is the complete package. I could see him as a Ballydoyle No.1 some day. He will get the John Oxx job in the next year or 2 and then that will launch him into the mainstream. Love the man to bits as he has had a fair amount of setbacks and bounced back so well."
Just caught him there on Riobamba, now he found trouble but the thing with Berry is he knows how to get out of it. Something I fear Moore doesnt.
I dont think Moore can switch to a plan B, its either plan A works, or if it doesnt he just sits and suffers….
Maybe the greats are those who can switch to plan B when things go wrong.
October 17, 2009 at 20:16 #253933He never found any trouble on Crystal Capella and tried to make use of her stamina off a slowish pace before getting caught on the line.
October 17, 2009 at 20:38 #253939Been done by the best jockey in the world IMO – no shame in losing out to Lemaire.
October 17, 2009 at 21:10 #253945In fairness didnt do anything wrong, perhaps he looked at this log last night and it scared him into thinking straight!!
