Surprised the stewards at Newmarket didn’t look into Ryan Moore’s maneuver out of the stalls in the Dewhurst yesterday.

The rules clearly state that the rider…

“must ride in a straight line from his draw position until reaching the marker poles”

    and

“A Rider is liable to Disciplinary Action for any contravention of Paragraph 45.2, even if no interference is caused.”

Moore turned left from trap one immediately after the stalls opened, and veered across both Emaaraty and Great Prospector in stalls two and three respectively. He was clearly well left of his draw position before the orange marker pole that signals the point where he can come off his straight line.

Poor from the stewards there yesterday imo.

Moore was interviewed after Kew Gardens and asked if being up against the stands rail was a positive. He said no it wasn’t and that he was drawn up against it so he stayed there.

So if that was true then why did he cut across the whole field to get that rail on U S Navy Flag? The rail was a massive advantage but Moore continued to peddle rubbish after the Dewhurst. He was once more asked about coming to the rail and said that he just happened to be there. If he doesn’t want to tell us the truth then just don’t say anything at all.

He was given 2 days for cutting across on Roly Poly last week but at the end of the day he’s doing everything he can to give his mounts an advantage and if that means getting the odd suspension then he like many are happy to do it.

He’s no angel but he’s smart. He came out in the Dewhurst and went immediately left by almost 2 stalls width but he then straightened up and stayed that way until after the marker pole. I’m pretty sure he would have argued to the stewards that the horse simply lurched left on leaving the stalls and he took action right away to straighten him.
