When I saw the headlines ‘defied all logic’
I thought it would be a story of someone walking on water like Grimes
or something about Tim eating a pizza on the moon
or even TAPK hitting another 70/1 Ante Post Winnerbut no
it’s about an even money shot winning a horse race
Maybe Willie has a two headed coin back in yard to decide who rides who and Townend always calls tailsGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 19, 2016 at 23:31 #1239058Id imagine he means that the horse was working so badly in the weeks leading up to it that it defies logic that he would be able to go out and obliterate a field of high 160 rated horses.
March 21, 2016 at 11:27 #1239206But apparently he was only 50% at Kempton on Boxing Day and got chinned on the line
and 90% at Cheltenham and deemed not good enough on a course and going that suitedGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 21, 2016 at 13:11 #1239214Ruby said in another article that he was ‘in awe’ of Vautour for what he achieved.
Believe me, this is a belated attempt at damage limitation aimed at Ricci, who must be absolutely fizzing. O’Leary’s post-race comment will have made him worse (effectively calling Ricci ‘chicken’). Ricci’s been hit twice, because they must have given him a very strong assurance that Djakadam would win the GC.
Mullins will be next no doubt, if he gets long enough to do it, about how much of a miracle recovery this was.
If these political statements are enough to ensure zero fallout for the yard, then Ricci is a bigger fool than even he has shown so far.
I still believe he’ll be taking taking some, or all of his horses away.
March 21, 2016 at 18:09 #1239267Not as big a gaff as not running Annie Power (or UDS) in Jezki’s Champion Hurdle. If Ricci accepted that…..
March 21, 2016 at 21:42 #1239311I think people are being a bit harsh on ricci,Mullins and Walsh. Most people thought that the Ryanair was the right race for vautour and it looks like Mullins persuaded ricci in the end. Yes most people thought the horse was going to the gold cup but on that ground I couldn’t see vatour beating either of the first two and especially the winner who was after all the top rated horse in training. At least we know now that this might happen again so be wary of where the likes of vatour might end up. At least I got double the odds ew on sizing John so it wasn’t all bad.
March 22, 2016 at 23:22 #1239449I missed that Joe, what did O’Leary say post race?
March 23, 2016 at 10:12 #1239475Bobby, of Don Cossack he said – and I paraphrase – ‘You wouldn’t go for the Ryanair with a horse like that, and I’m saying that even though it’s my race’
March 23, 2016 at 10:21 #1239476If Ricci made his own breakfast he’d put the cornflakes in the fridge
and the milk in the cupboard…….

My memory may be getting hazy, but in which race did Don Cossack run at the 2015 festival?

I do this on a daily basis , and I don’t even own one race horse .
