“The guy in the corner giving all the numbers out is enough to bore anyone to tears.”

Yes, what on earth was he contributing? He was worse than McNae!

Not sure why James Millman needed a sidekick on track at Kempton either.

The home of British and Irish horse racing…. With one frankly dreadful meeting from fairyhouse on a Saturday!

Mcnae will be broadcasting his race data guff to an audience of zero!

Not so long ago, Newbury and Bangor On Dee would have been on the channel today.

The loss of Newbury was a blow. I have to wonder if Cheltenham ever decided to move to SSR, would RTV be viable?

And now we have 4 meetings on SSR for their biggest NH day.

Cheltenham is part of the Jockey Club owned group of Racecourses (14 in total), so wouldn’t move to SSR.
In the same way an ARC owned course (16 in total) would not transfer it’s media rights to RTV.

It’s only the independant courses (29) who would switch. Currently only 8 of these 29 are with SSR.

10 independent courses have switched since RUK (now RTV) and ATR (SSR) were formed after the collapse of the original atr in March 2004.

Chelmsford, Fakenham, Kelso, Leicester, Perth, Stratford, Taunton have all switched to RTV.

Bangor, Chester and Newbury have switched to SSR.

Ascot did move to RTV before switching back to SSR again.

Not to forget the row and legal action following Doncaster being contracted to RUK for a while, before being quickly closed for redevelopment and then transfering to ATR on reopening.

....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.

I can never remember Kelso or Perth being under ATR or SSR! But I may be wrong.

Oh great, the RTV standard definition service is finishing at the end of the year. Which is a bit of a problem, given I can never get a picture on the HD channel. :-(

That happened to me, turned out my Sky dish needed a fix.

    Thanks Mike.

At least I might be spared McNae and his RaceIQ data! ;-)

My Sky service is a bit strange. For a while, the Sky Sports HD channels seldom (if ever) worked but the standard channels were OK. Then the standard channels were switched off but the HD channels started to work again, after a fashion.

Now the Sports HD channels sometimes don’t work at first but if I switch between channels that do work and then go back to the Sports channels, I can eventually get a picture!

Unfortunately the one channel which resolutely refuses to work is the RTV HD channel, no matter what I try.

I will see how it goes in the New Year but I suppose I might have to call someone out to have a look. It is an old dish.

Only 5 pundits on duty tonight. RTV must be on an economy drive. ;-)

At least all profits go back to horse racing, which can’t be ignored with prize money being so **** poor.

Just think how much more money the sport would receive if RTV didn’t employ so many presenters…

I was trying to be sarcastic Gladiateur, admittedly rather clumsily.

I see the 2 presenters tonight, Messrs Dunkley & Baker bottled discussing Constitution Hill, despite inviting emails on the subject and Anthony stating he had an opinion on the subject.

At least Dunkley has heard of Constitution Hill. Unlike Night Nurse, only the highest rated hurdler ever but unknown to him.

The pundit on this afternoon just made me miss Neesom. Very knowledgeable, I confess, but my God, haven’t the pundits become so encyclopaedic to the point of I have to wonder when they find time to eat. They can relay fact upon fact, just not with the acerbic or mischievous delivery of Neesom. Everything is so bloody clinical now.

I never really warmed to Nevison but with the passing of time and the introduction of this new crop, I find his flying by the seat of his pants appearances on the channel rather comforting.
