Forget the BBC equivalent. This is the one that matters! Can McCoy be the first jockey to receive the award since Barry Geraghty in 2003? We’ll find out Wednesday night.
PP bet:
Graeme McDowell – 1/2
AP McCoy – 5/2
Katie Taylor – 8/1
Gráinne Murphy – 11/1
Rory McIlroy – 16/1
Derval O’Rourke – 25/1
Lar Corbett – 40/1
Paddy Barnes – 50/1
Tommy Bowe – 100/1December 20, 2010 at 22:20 #333383Is there anyone at home who can afford to make ten phonecalls to a premium rate number these days?
Guess that rules one or two out…
Lar Corbett for me.ps This site is very, very slow all day.
December 20, 2010 at 22:27 #333386This hasn’t been a phone-in for a few years Cav. I think the bigwigs in the RTÉ Sport department choose the winner now.
Ryle Nugent, Michael Corcoran and the rest of the Montrose Mafia will probably ensure Tommy Bowe gets it
December 20, 2010 at 22:42 #333388Here we go again…
December 20, 2010 at 22:48 #333389Will there be any bigwigs left after Gareth O Callaghan is finished with them.

Plenty of snow around south Dublin…………………
December 21, 2010 at 00:33 #333404Bill O Herily, Eamon Dunphy, John Giles and Liam Brady for lifetime achievemant awards for their contribution to sports entertainment. For bringing the most entertaining football coverage around and the most in depth analysis you can get.
Poets, scholars and philosiphors of the beautiful game!!
But most of all, complete muppets!! Like watching a a mix between the office and little Britain!!
Apres match should get an award for their world cup scits this year, they were brilliant!!
Almost as funny as watching England against Algeria and Germany!!
December 21, 2010 at 01:00 #333405Surely G-MAC will win this.
December 21, 2010 at 07:59 #333427It seems like N Ireland is the place to come from as it gives you two shots at a personality award. But why is McDowell favourite rather than McCoy? Is it to even things up or because Lee Westwood isn’t on the roster?
December 21, 2010 at 09:49 #333433What about Brian Lenihan? He’s been a tremendous sport this year…

December 21, 2010 at 10:01 #333435Is it a law that Dervla O’Rourke has to be nominated every year?
December 21, 2010 at 14:42 #333458You can’t piss off the Cork crowd now IS. They’d be up in arms if there’s not a token Corkonian nominated every year.
December 21, 2010 at 19:33 #333479I’d have thought Dervla O’Rourke’s silver in Barcelona was a fair achievement in the context of Irish athletics?
Would be good if Graham McDowell was recognised here.
December 22, 2010 at 01:26 #333530Lar Corbett, I’d hope. Hurling is a wondefrul and frightening skilful game and the players are amateur an receive no financial reward. Turning over Kilkenny’s 5-in-a-row was a magnificent effort.
GMac is a great guy, but he’s won enough.December 22, 2010 at 07:46 #333545

Mr Spock would have a lotta trouble finding any logic in that or I must be missing something.

That’s not GMac’s ‘record for 2010’ as it completely ignores his European Tour results (2 wins and five other top-six finishes) as well as all his results since the Ryder Cup, including winning the World Challenge ($1.2m) on the US tour and the Valderrama Masters ($500k) on the Euro tour – both top quality events. He has also finished close up in various end-of-season invitationals and finished 13th in the eponymous Race To Dubai tournament.
He was nominated joint European Tour golfer of the year along with Martin Kaymer.

HRI have really dropped the ball on this one. We could have really put racing on the map if McCoy had landed this award.
A great opportunity misssed.
