Thank you wallace, atleast someone agrees with me

It’s like this:
Denman was rated 161 after his novice chasing season.
Kauto Star was rated 179 after said season.Novices aren’t rated as highly.
February 20, 2010 at 20:33 #278142Novices aren’t rated as highly.
Yes, and the reason for that is because they haven’t achieved as much, rendering MDH comfortably held by Punchestowns on hurdling form.
As for MDH, any suggestion around "improvement" in him is conjecture on your part. Granted, there is a reasonable likeihood that he would have progressed again over hurdles, but he would have needed to – and certainly by more than the 10lbs you suggest is between them.
I confess I am a bit of a sceptic when it comes to MDH over 3m and beyond. I think he will prove to be RyanAir (possibly even a Queen Mother) horse in time.
February 20, 2010 at 20:57 #278150think some people need to man up though, it’s about finding winners not giving every flippin horse a chance

Thats Cheltenham! Easier said than done! Unless of course you"re called Somersby, Tidal Bay, Celestial Halo, Imperial Commander,to name but a few!
February 20, 2010 at 20:59 #278151Whether he’s capable of improving or not, thehorsesmouth, Punchestowns’s hurdle form is in a different league to Mikael D’Haguenet’s.
As such the latter is very much held by the former.
Eqiu f****n pedia
why dont you just call yourself Mr Benn?

I have to agree Grasshopper that I think, had everything gone to plan with Mikael this season of course, that the Arkle would be a race made for him. He’s shown plenty of speed in the past.

If everything had gone to plan Mikael would have gone for the RSA. No question about it! Grass is just beginning to clutch at straws now!If he runs with no signs of his recurring injurys on Wednesday,(2m 5f) Willie will finally put it to bed by announcing Mikael as a runner in the RSA!
February 21, 2010 at 14:14 #278260Can’t argue with that!
I think the Arkle, a strongly run 2m, would be ideal for him though it looks as if if he goes to Cheltenham, it will be the RSA.
Wouldn’t get Cee Bee off the bit in the Arkle anyway
February 21, 2010 at 14:28 #278267Were Mikael D’Haugenet to show up for THE RSA without the benefit a previous run, how many of you would back him.
Has a debutant EVER won an RSA? or an Arkle or The Bumper, come to that.
A couple have won The Foxhunters but I don’t recall any otherFebruary 21, 2010 at 14:47 #278270I cold well be wrong, but I think you have to run in a bumper to qualify for the Cheltenham Bumper?..

Harry’s trainer saying his own horse has "no chance"

Harry’s trainer saying his own horse has "no chance"
I’ll reprint the whole areticle with comments as he’s one of my major fancies for The RSA
TRAINER Nick Williams has warned Diamond Harry will have to improve his jumping if he is to make an impression in the RSA Chase at Cheltenham on March 17.
The prolific seven-year-old, who is owned by Paul Duffy and his Diamond Partnership syndicate, has been successful in both his chases this season, but, after a decent display at Haydock,
I’m a big fan of Timmy Murphy but I have to admit he went very well for Barry Geraghty
(he)was not that clever at Newbury last time out.
"I wasn’t impressed and I think he’s got no chance in the RSA if he doesn’t jump better than that," said Williams. "That [round of jumping] won’t do at Cheltenham."
Agreed but they went very slow on the far side and he was almost jumping from a standing start at a few of the fences and he always seems better in a bigger field
"I thought he jumped fairly straight at Haydock and schooling at home he’s shown no inclinations of that.
"There’s not much more I can do, I just hope it comes right on the day."
Williams also expressed his concern at Diamond Harry tackling the RSA Chase’s 3m trip at this stage of his career.
The trip has always been the biggest worry of mine, he doesn’t HAVE to run in The RSA which can be a horse breaker and he’s too good to be ruined by one ill judged entry, if the trainer thinks he needs more experience why not take in another basic novice chase then go to Aintree and/or Punchestown, assuming the long term objective would be a Gold Cup
Speaking on At The Races, he added: "I don’t think his stamina is bottomless and this race brings it out.
"He could possibly be found wanting on stamina and two-and-a-half miles might be better for him.
I expressed this opinion on an earelier thread, I think before his chase debut
"As he gets older his stamina will work and he’s been a model of consistency."
I’m starting to lean more and more towards Big Al but if Mikael runs I’ll probably give the race a body swerve

Did warn you he was a ‘hype’ horse.
February 22, 2010 at 20:17 #278475Inchidaly Rock was all over the show at Newbury and it definitely put the other two off. It may have affected Bensalem more than Diamond Harry though.
February 22, 2010 at 20:23 #278480You will know by the end of the week or in fact tomoro if Mikael is back for the Festival.
Actually Willie indicated that he may go straight to the Festival without a run.
The horse would have to be a machine to win a RSA such as this first time out

If Mr Mullins has him bang on for the festival,he is the banker of the meeting, the horse has it all! Of course thats if he runs in the right race!!
February 22, 2010 at 20:55 #278486Their seems to be a quite a fan club of Mikael so i will right down the quote from this weekends Irish Field
"he is back doing fast work. He will school over fences this week and then we’ll decide whether he go to the festival. He has a few options. I think it is getting too so to give him a run over fences so we’ll just see how the week goes. He is doing everything right and is really pleasing me again."
February 22, 2010 at 21:18 #278489Sounds to me like Mikael will make it. W P Mullins said a while back that he’s a natural jumper, so wouldn’t take much schooling in that respect.
