Darkness is also wonderful stayer and has course form. Dont like his jumping one bit.
Me neither.
Commercial Flyer and Our Ben look the ones to me.
I can see the money going down on the Pipe horse tomorrow.

March 14, 2006 at 18:07 #69266I’m drawn towards the Listener now.
March 14, 2006 at 18:08 #69267Trackside
On turf I operate with the rule that any horse acts on any going until it proves otherwise. So often the market overreacts to what ground conditions a horse is perceived to need. A good example off the top of my head is Proclamation in last years success, he drifted out to 9/2 because his trainer said he wasn’t sure his horse would go on soft. The formbook shows he’d never run on it.
I noticed the strangler managed to put another one the floor at cheltenham today and has a sore arm. It would be terrible if he had to miss the ride tomorrow. If that’s the case I urge Alner strongly to use Mick Fitzgerald.
March 14, 2006 at 20:08 #69268Commercial Flyer and Bewley’s Berry for me. Slightly concerned the way the pipe horses ran today. considering before racing Martin nominated Dont Be Shy as his banker of the week.
The listener would be dangerous but that heavy fall last time wont have done his confidence much good.
March 14, 2006 at 21:18 #69269True stormont, but I should imagine that the heavy fall of his jockey today will have done the Listeners backers confidence the world of good.
Sorry if that sounds harsh, but its true.
Personally, i fanct CF, but its getting a bit short now!

March 14, 2006 at 21:48 #69270Agree and disagree TDK, I like Darkness (although I would have preferred AP on top) but fear Commercial Flyer. I have a feeling a little of my hard earned will be going on each way for Star de Mohaison and Idle Talk. Actually, reading through what I have just wrote, this should be a no-bet race.. oh dear….
March 15, 2006 at 00:44 #69271The Listener will enjoy the ground and stays very well which is important as there will be an emphasis on stamina in todays race. His win on New years day was a commendable effort IMO given he had to give nearly two stone to a decent horse in Napolitain. Would surely have won comfortably at Lingfield last time had he put in a clear round. Also he was impressive when winning at Windsor and Exeter last December. Today’s trip and underfoot conditions will play to his strengths. With a clear round i will be surprised if he doesn’t win. A confident selection. Commercial flyer is obviously well fancied but is he just a hype horse ? I will be surprised if Our Ben is good enough to win.
March 15, 2006 at 00:49 #69272Agree with both Alchemist and Chetnole. The Listener has got a much better chance know if the strangler can’t ride it. I’m on commercial flyer @ 10s so I’m happy if that wins as well. Can’t have Our Ben at any price. 5/1? No Way.
March 15, 2006 at 00:55 #69273I fancy The Listener quite strongly, i think he cud end up the best horse in this race wheter he wins 2moro or not.

Andrew Thornton would appear to be the only NH jockey riding whose falls are attributable solely to him and have nothing to do with the horse.
March 15, 2006 at 11:29 #69275He must be pretty bad then.
March 15, 2006 at 11:38 #69276Commercial flyer strikes me almost worst value fav this week (apart from sweet wake maybe)
so little experience and do we really have that much faith now in pipe specials? Not really happening so often now
March 15, 2006 at 12:22 #69277Quiz question
Which horse running in the Royal & SunAlliance Chase this afternoon is not a novice?
March 15, 2006 at 12:33 #69278Back in Front and The Listener for me.
March 15, 2006 at 13:18 #69279i’m stumped hj. i know rule supreme wasn’t when he won it.
March 15, 2006 at 13:20 #69280Didn’t Zabenz win a few chases in America before running in the UK? I’m probably incorrect.
March 15, 2006 at 13:55 #69281Correct Ken, Zabenz won a Grade 1 chase at Saratoga in 2002 and was initially refused entry into novice chases when he first came over here. However, on appeal the race he won was deemed to be a brush hurdle race rather than a steeple chase!
Here he is in winning action – judge for yourself whether this is a hurdle race or a steeple chase!
