November 25, 2014 at 13:02 #496391Five day entries are out for Sunday’s triple Grade 1 meeting at Fairyhouse. Most notably Lieutenant Colonel has been supplemented for the Hattons Grace and while Un Atout is still in the Drinmore, he’s also entered in a beginners chase on Saturday. Same goes for Allez Colombieres, entered in a maiden hurdle on Saturday as well as the Royal Bond.

I think he acquitted himself very well as a novice hurdler despite not having a clear run at things and he made an excellent start to his chasing career when winning at Down Royal.
I have a lot of respect for the market leaders, Valseur Lido and The Tullow Tank, who were also impressive in winning their beginners chases. However, they are 9/4 and 2/1 respectively and for me Apache Stronghold looks cracking value at 5/1.
November 27, 2014 at 09:42 #496548What do you make of Un Atout, Tommy? 16/1 would be of appeal but he’s had that long lay off over 500 days, so probably best to watch. Looks made for fences and only blip so far too date was in the Supreme when 4th behind Champagne Fever, MTOY’s and Jetzi, so not too bad.

Un Atout is near the top of my JLT shortlist Nathan. In my opinion he was probably better than Valseur Lido before he got injured but it’s hard to see connections running both, and Gigginstown have Real Steel in there as well.
If I remember correctly, the last time Mullins put a novice chaser into a Grade 1 first time up was with Mikael D’Haguenet in this very race, and he received plenty of criticism for doing so after he came down at the last. Given that Un Atout is coming from a season on the sidelines I’d imagine they’ll put him in a beginners chase first. He’s entered in a beginners chase on Saturday over 2m 5f, where Gigginstown also have Rule The World. Noble Emperor for Tony Martin and JP McManus looks the main opposition there.

Allez Colombieres seems headed for The Royal Bond and Ruby Walsh rides him in preference to stablemate Nichols Canyon, who will be ridden by Paul Townend.
Allez Colombieres is best priced 4/5 for the Royal Bond after being 13/8 yesterday and there’s no doubt that Ruby being on board is a positive indicator for this ex French horse who is in my Ten To Follow as a dark horse.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
November 28, 2014 at 17:01 #496698What a horrible, horrible, horrible renewal of the Hattons Grace. With the two races last week and the Fighting Fifth tomorrow, there’s evidently too much racing.

At least last week, with Faugheen and The New One, we were looking at horses who will be at, or near, the top of the tree going forward. This week’s races look sure to be won by horses who will be outsiders in the best company next year.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Two very poor renewals indeed, more so the Fighting Fifth to be fair.
At least here we have last year’s second, Zaidpour, a winner of two Grade 1’s and placed in five more. Jetson has a Grade 1 win to his name as well, although it has to be said he was the beneficiary of some good race riding on the part of Davy Russell and poor rides from a number of of others. Lieutenal Colonel was a high class novice and Little King Robin has been in good order. On the bright side, at least we might have a competitive renewal now, whereas with Annie Power involved she would surely have been long odds on to win.

I think the reason he was 13/8 was that he was not a confirmed runner. With No More Heroes (he was a strange entry to begin with imo) not declared, he was bound to shorten. His stablemate looks the main opposition so it will be interesting to see what way the market rolls on Sunday. Hopefully one or both of them will put up big performances.

Annie Power was 2/7 on the "tissue" I saw.
I’ve never been a big fan of Zaidpour, he’s won seven times but he’s hardly been the punters pal with a biggest ever winning SP of 7/4 and often well odds on. His three trips to the Cheltenham Festival have seen modest efforts each time. I can’t get interested in the race I’m afraid.
I agree that part of the price on Allez Colombieres was the fact that he was also entered in the lower grade maiden on the Saturday but surely Ruby being aboard is a big confidence boost. I’ll be gutted if he can’t win this on Sunday.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
November 30, 2014 at 11:51 #496959Mouse Morris’s
REAL STEEL
sneaks under the radar in the Drinmore Novices’ Chase. It’s an open race, possibly as competitive a novices’ chase as there will be all season, but I have to give a decent chance to a Grade 2 hurdles winner that made a decent chasing debut at Naas. I’m well pleased to have averaged a shade over 23 on Betfair for this one.
For a speculative outsider try the same stable’s
Band Of Blood
. He has something to find but there will be plenty worse long priced outsiders this season.
November 30, 2014 at 12:14 #496964Hatton’s Disgrace?
November 30, 2014 at 12:21 #496965Nichol’s Canyon is desperately weak in The Royal Bond. During the week and a couple of days ago he was as low as 7/4 but is a whopping 7/2 in a place now.
Stable mate Allez Colombieres is generally a shade of odds-on with Bet Victor the only evens available as I write.
After a crepe day for Ten To Follow yesterday, I need a boost from Allez.
Super Allez?
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
November 30, 2014 at 13:04 #496973Unbelievable and my weekend finishes on a bummer as Allez Colombieres is pulled up after going wrong early in the race.
I’m glad I’ve stopped punting these jumpers!
Bollocks in a hat!!
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
November 30, 2014 at 14:15 #496982It didn’t take Sandra Hughes long to bag a grade 1.
Hopefully She can fly the flag for a long time to come.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
November 30, 2014 at 14:32 #496986Willie Mullins said this later on:-
The Closutton handler added of Allez Colombieres: "It doesn’t seem to be a break and is possibly a pulled muscle or ligament, or it could be a stress fracture. I’d imagine it will be a long break for him."
With the "second string" winning in good style it seems a shame we won’t get to see the more fancied of the two today fulfilling his promise.
Ten To Follow has been been unlucky for me over the years. I recall Jenny Pitman’s Mighty Mogul suffering a fatal injury, Remittance Man suffering a season ending injury and one other horse dying in the year when I was one of the joint leaders early in the competition.
Should be renamed Ten To Sorrow for me

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
