NAP – Too Darn Hot, had his troubles but has shown he retains a decent level of ability, can be no excuses this time around. Think he hacks up

Lay – Not really into laying think Stradivarius has a few interesting ones opposing him and if the going is on the soft side could throw up a question mark

Each Way – Both Well of Wisdom and Temple of Heaven could be underrated at 20’s in the Coventry.

Nap – Nayibeth @ 5/1 for the Albany

This filly is my nap of the meeting – and biggest bet too. Which is a crazy thought for a once raced American filly who’s not yet ran on grass. However, the time was excellent for her one run and the form has been franked in the states. The speed figure experts and sectional analysis experts all agree her run was excellent and she’s the one to beat. To put the cherry on top, Wesley Ward said on Wednesday that he’s always thought of her as his best filly and that bodes well for his ‘above average’ 2019 crop. I’m on her from 7/1 down to the 5/1 and actually added her to the market on the requestabet section ages ago.

Lay – Ten Sovereigns @ 6/4 for the Commonwealth Cup

Sorry but how on earth is this colt 6/4? He’s dropping back in trip after failing to stay in the Guineas but he wasn’t a definite non stayer that screamed sprinter. I refuse to believe on form he should be 6/4. I’d say 7/2 is much more realistic. I’m not a layer but I have laid this one in real life. Think it’s just an utterly nonsensical price.

New Graduate @ 6/1 for the Royal Hunt Cup

I’m on at 8/1 but I still think 6/1 with 5 places on offer for this horse is a decent bet. He’s surely going to place if running anywhere near that Ripon performance. The form has been franked three times already and I think he’s the proverbial ‘group horse in a handicap’.

Been busy with Exams so haven’t quite looked at Ascot too closely yet.

NAP (assuming my ante-post 25/1 about Le Brivido doesn’t count) – Cross Counter @ 9/2 for the Gold Cup

My Ascot has rather been gutted by the absence of Chasing Dreams but I think the disparity between Stradivarius and Cross Counter is indefensible. He overcame a lot of adversity to win the Melbourne Cup and did so very comfortably. That race is basically a top Group 1 nowadays. Would have some concerns about him staying the extra half mile and certainly wouldn’t be as confident about this NAP as I have been in previous years. Nevertheless, he could be a potential superstar and that will make a race of it.

LAY – Arizona @ 7/2 for the Coventry Stakes.

Plenty of reasons to like him but didn’t get completely carried away by his win last time and would probably fancy Siskin, Monoski, Harpocrates and Temple Of Heaven against him. Not sure if they all turn up but there are enough viable candidates to take him on as fav. Tempting to opt for Le Brivido here too, he’s a farcical price currently but the rest of the older milers are such an uninspiring cohort.

EW – Sands Of Mali @ 16/1 for the Diamond Jubilee

This race is going to be much weaker than the King’s Stand, he ran a great race against the bias in the Commonwealth Cup and any ease in the ground should be welcome (although by Saturday that will have vanished, most likely). Obvious frame claims and there isn’t much separating him with the current fav on last year’s form. I’ll also be backing Kachy in this, but out of hope rather than expectation. A reverse forecast of the pair would basically be an early Christmas since they are my favourite horses in training.
