The softer the ground gets the more im going to be on Smokey Oakey and Halicarnassus who was well backed at Newbury is sure to land a big race soon. Multidimensional should also take some beating here.
August 7, 2008 at 09:23 #176341Nice work there mate!
I will have a look on saturday morning, but i will let you know what i fancy!
Thanks
August 7, 2008 at 10:40 #176348Haven’t had a good look but Smokey Oakey, Lady Gloria and Flying Clarets will love GS ground but Halicarnassus won’t.
August 7, 2008 at 21:30 #176389Excellent lay out Mr Wilson, what with all the silks.
Multidimensional for me.

August 8, 2008 at 20:27 #176455Do hope Multidimensional wins, has lots of ability and would be great to see Henry Cecil hopefully come up to Haydock and get a nice Group race.
August 9, 2008 at 08:47 #176486I’d be itching to take on Multidimensional here- has looked paceless this year continuing to be a sitting duck in front for anything finishing. Only decision is whether to lay him or back Smokey.

Not a race I’d touch, though if Haydock does become the bog it threatens to it would play to Multidimensional’s strengths, and he could well put the race to bed before finishing speed becomes an issue.
August 9, 2008 at 09:27 #176498If Haydock prevents itself from getting too soft, Smokey Oakey will be ridiculously tough to beat.
Easily a career-best performance in the Brigadier Gerard.
Very strong when fresh.
Good-to-soft form impeccable.
I just worry about the small field and Multidimensional may have his measure for toe but … conditions come into play to make it a ding-dong battle.
Smokey Oakey at 7/2. Play for 3 points win.
August 9, 2008 at 10:39 #176506I live under 2m from Haydock and im going to be their.
However it is peeing down here and it will get even softer as the day goes on.

Thanks for the weather update Neil. If it changes to soft I think it will suit Smokey Oakey and Flying Clarets more than Multidimensional. Smokey has to give 7lbs and 3lbs respectively so not an easy task but he looks the most progressive so I just prefer him.

RP going bulletin 11.34: The going at Haydock is good to soft.
Yeah, right!
August 9, 2008 at 12:32 #176523They have an updated going bulletin that says now soft.
August 9, 2008 at 14:55 #176538Smokey Oakey a non-runner? Or fell? Seems implausible that he has finished absolutely nowhere!!!
August 9, 2008 at 18:26 #176558A very tough and gutsy win for Multidimensional and looked like he had run in a 3m chase after considering how mud splattered the poor horse was but a good win never the less.
Smokey Oakey was not happy with the ground i think and maybe a lot better back over 1m on a much easier surface.
All in all some good racing but the only good thing was that due to it peeing down all day the boozers stayed inside and those of us who went for the horses could see them in a very sparse parade ring.
August 9, 2008 at 20:11 #176567Class won the day. Think it was even too soft for him but won comfortably enough. Cracking price too. Think he may have another couple of nice prizes in him if the ground stays on the softer side of good before the end of the season.
