December 24, 2021 at 00:21 #1574219Me too Marlingford I loved Gamble’s ode to Phillip’s legs especially the bit where PS asked the woman why she was still holding a pile of wet washing..I’d conjured up a heavy frost that night and the woman’s wet sheets had turned to cardboard.

Do you remember when sheets used to come off the line in one piece Gamble and you could fold them and they almost cracked in half.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 24, 2021 at 10:16 #1574239Well Tippi I can remember taking a nightie frozen stiff as a board ( not mine by the way – I wear regulation army secret edition)down from the washing line that could have easily won the Turner turnip prize, but like the famous snowman that flew to the North Pole and danced most of his life away, it transformed back to its original allure after a short tea party.
I can also remember the old wooden split pegs – bleached with age that had a metal ties if I remember rightly that might have been metal pins or had they string wrapped around the tops ? Like the old style 🥔 peelers ? I think but were about an inch thick. Marvellous objects which outshone the rolls of hard Izal toilet paper they sat next to on the outside toilet shelf with the big spider.
I have had little sheep sleep the last two nights and my ‘morning’ tea is devoid of taste. I have had headaches, shivering, sneezing, runny nose, dry tickly cough and a mild sore throat. My lateral flow self test was negative yesterday and will take another.
I am in some isolation with a pretendy woman coming occasionally into my vision fussing about the upcoming feast, or was it the beast, but not my airspace, and I am sat in the epicentre of bankbrokecovidciti at this very moment waiting for the little baby to be placed in the crib as the clock chimes midnight – no cries, no maintenance, he feeds himself and lives high up in a shoe box. I need matchstick men for my eyes and a lot of imagination to conjure up the solstice spirit as Jon Snow disappears.
I was at a party a few years back and the hostess came over and said ” Oh here is whoever it was and he used to be in Brotherhood of man.”
There was no available exit as his eyes lit up with old stardom, my glass was full, I was trapped, almost like being in a lift with a big talking almost in yer face slice of ageing celebrity fart.
December 24, 2021 at 19:09 #1574354Lol Gamble ..visions of your frozen nighty going to the Snowman’s Ball 👗and imagining you standing there in your regulation pants 🩳 singing 🎵 Let It Go 🎵.
What a great post.

First Christmas present I want to put in Room 101…bought by a very distant relative I absolutely hate them..so I had a bright idea🌟…I would add them to my daughters Christmas gift from this relative only to find she had bought the same for her and she hates them too.
Yuk and Why?
Goodbye to them (both)

December 27, 2021 at 12:16 #1574796Well BigG I rose at 11am and am still on my first tea of the day. My second test on Xmas day was negative and my taste buds are now reacting normally. I am still fairly heavy with cold and not feeling myself. I drank a pint and a half of krone last night and enjoyed a very nice bubble and squeak with cold turkey and gammon with a few glasses of red during and to follow.
Pretendy and I had two pretendy guests on Xmas day and I greeted them at the door wearing a gas mask and a black beanie to put me in terrorist mode. To add to the shock effect I ushered them in at a distance and treated them to disco a la gamble as I cavorted around the expansive room singing and dancing my version of the Monster mash ( heating was turned up and all windows were wide open ). I then sat in the corner like Jack Horner and took part in absolutely no culinary effort – I did lend a hand in removing a bottle of Champagne from the freezer and uncorking it. Luckily I had come across it in the sideboard stuck in the wine rack, as I had no krone to offer guests. We all got stuck in to a turkey crown from M&S big enough for 6-8 people (£55) and a J.Sainsbury’s taste the difference Xmas pudding circa £10 which was delish with brandy butter and added cream. Asda were giving away veg on Xmas Eve but there message “Feel free to take 2 bags of each vegetable ” was unclear and I complained vehemently to staff as I tried to pay for them at self service and told them to sort out the wording and to get their skates on as I was a very confused and angry Xmas bunny. I stocked up on those, but veg mainly came from M&S.
Thank you for your concern but I am on the mend.
Going to put the kettle on now.::: A couple of small edits made.

Champagne is best when served chilled before opening. Although some advocate storing the bottle in the freezer for a faster chill, this is not recommended. Chilling your champagne kills the bubbles, which may affect its texture as well as the taste and texture. Vintage Champagne which comes with a label indicating years should be served a bit warmer at between 54 and 57 Fahrenheit.
Non-Vintage Champagne – no year printed – should ideally be chilled at 40-45 F if you want to bring out the best flavor. Colder temperatures are likely to stun your taste buds such that you may not get the true taste and flavor of your bubbly.
