    Sorry to hear Brian has passed away at just 69.

    I still have a copy of his autobiography which detailed his fallout with Ginger Mccain. It should have been him on board Rummy in 1977. Still a great achievement to win three Nationals.

    Very sad to hear this. I was only 17 but I’ll never forget that duel with Red Rum and
    Crisp, albeit I had bet Crisp, it was excruciating and magnificent at the same time. He
    epitomised the breed on national hunt jockeys, sustaining a serious head injury and
    out of the game for 10 months, only to come back and win 2 Nationals on Red Rum, having
    previously won one on Red Alligator. A magnificent achievement that won’t be forgotten.

    My sincere condolences to his family.
