Yep, I remember the Princes praising J.P.Spencer for his ride on that horse of Fanshawe’s, was it Zidane!

He simply doesn’t get 2 miles…………ZZZZZZZZZZZZ Bye Sublimity
April 26, 2008 at 22:08 #160119I must have dreamt that soft-ground Champion Hurdle where he buried two stout stayers into 3rd and 4th then. Need to remember that in future.

Don’t you find it rather odd that Sublimity stayed the slightly further distance, over the stiffer Cheltenham track, on slower ground and run at a faster pace, when he won his CH, than at Punchestown Friday?

No they just don’t bother posting them on here and let the likes of you continue to live in dreamland that the game is straight and the best horses always win.
Now, where did I ever say anything like that?

what I will say though is if the game was totally bent and it was as easy to spot "non triers" every single day like used to be spotted and posted on here then I wouldn’t be in the game but as that is not the case I’m happy to be still enjoying the racing game.
Is that good enough for you David?

Absolutely not Reet. To be honest it took me alittle bit of time to catch on what the probllem with Sublimity is. I fully understand people disagreeing but prhaps they haven’t studied the horse as much as I have.
What drew me to the conclusion he does not really get the trip was the the Champion Hurdle he won.
It’s fine Friggo being alittle sracastic but frankly he is not reading the race properlyIMO……..he is saying he has beat stayers but what he really beat was a has been in Hardy Eustace. In bothe Champion Hurdles he won he wasn’t really asked the question until the 2nd last in Sublimity’s Champion Hurdle, Hardy Eustace were flat to the boards from the 4th last and struggling in front.
By the time they are approching the last Sublimity is cruising behind two horses who for want of a better word are knackered. Nothing else has come out of the pack and all Carberry has to do is let out a bit of rein and Sublimities momentum takes him past……….But then he himself goes from cruising one minute to nothing. He doesn’t put anymore distance between himself and Hardy Eustace as you would expect…..Hardy Eustace as tired as he is keeps within the 3 or 4 lengths that Sublimity gained………I was impressed by Subimity until he hit the rising ground then he was just a let down……
I decided to look back at Nolands race and Sublimity ran a very similar race that day the difference being he wasn’t running past beaten horses that day,
He comes there looking the most likely winner but stops dead after the last and can’t pass anything.
As I saide well before the Champion Hurdle when Katchit goes for home 3 out that will be the end of Sublimity and it was….the moment stamina was required he found nothing. Someone said he wasn’t 100% at Cheltenham those I spoke to who were standing next to the horse said he looked terrific.John Quinn being one of them.
What has happened in this latest race is Nicky Henderson knowing the way to beat Sublimity is to keep enough in reserve to turn on the tap in the latter stages and hoppe he will fold.
Punjabi was always handy, Carberry knowing his horse is far more leikely to get the trip holds up Sublimty and soes his brother on Harchibald…….both to me have done the only thing they could do and have ridden perfect races.
What some are forgetting is that Punjabi has already beaten both the horses pointless, He’s carried top weight in the Tote into second and is one high class horse.
He has quicked up at exactly the right time as have Harchibald and Sublimity………Sublimity has got the trip ok as I expected but he was simply outsped and outclassed.
This is simply a case of people over rating Sublimity and underestimating what is without doubt one high class horse in Punjabi IMVHO!!
April 28, 2008 at 09:24 #160313Do you al think it was still a bad ride???, or the better horse won on the day? i backed Punjabi as he is former course winner so had conditions to suit also he came home ahead of Sublimity at Cheltenham so why shouldnt he confirm ther form today? if Carberry had him handy i still dont think he would have won although it might have been closer
