Sad news that Rick Parfitt passed away today in Spain.
He certainly lived life to the full in the 80’s.
December 28, 2016 at 14:06 #1278937A ripe old age considering his lifestyle and near-refusal to curtail it after quadruple bypass surgery before the age of 50. At least he seemed to enjoy a life of excess, which can’t be said of George Michael and Carrie Fisher
Liz Smith and Richard Adams presumably didn’t piss/shoot-it-up for decades so lived genuinely long lives, and as far as I can gather didn’t fall victim to the disease that afflicts the clean-living: dementia. Lucky them
You make a choice: ‘whatever you want’
That well known abuser of his liver Kingsley Amis said “nothing is worth giving up for the sake of a couple more years in a nursing home” and there’s more than a grain of truth in that
So spare me the ‘taken before his/her time’ eulogies and sadness when an individual who chooses to wreck their body with mind-altering poison drops dead before er…his/her time
I’ll endeavour to wreck my body with pleasant poison the moment I’m diagnosed with something terminal: quite looking forward to it
January 2, 2017 at 16:08 #12799052016 was one helluva year for rock star deaths . Rick Parfitt’s demise was much less of a shock than some others . He had officially retired from gigging weeks before . A bit of a rock cliche , but he did live life in the fast lane .
Parfitt saw the funny side of things and liked practical jokes.
Wouldn’t it be funny if Down Down , Deeper and Down , started blaring out the speakers as he was being lowered into his final resting place .
