Richard has now donated his kidney and is back home:

Fantastic stuff from the man.
Since hearing of his intentions, I converted to the belief that Richard was quite clearly the best jumps’ jockey ever. And nowadays he is obviously the world’s premier racing broadcaster.

Very humbling.
February 7, 2012 at 23:57 #390263This is probably the most inspiring post that I have seen on this forum.
I doff my cap to Richard and all the other donors etc.
It really puts everything into perspective.February 8, 2012 at 00:29 #390266Full agreement with practically every post, especially Paul’s. Opt out, not in.
Wonderful selfless deed by Richard Pitman.
February 8, 2012 at 01:08 #390270Opt out Opt put !
I’ve just written
in biro all over me chest
I will not donate
to the big O,
a man with a set
of antlers
has got enough in
life alreadyRichard Pitman comes across
as a bubbly character and
a bit of a joker, but you
can see how much he enthuses
about his racing – but to donate
a kidney to a stranger
put him on another level
in my eyes.Nathan I would like to echo
what the ghost said.I would readily send you one of
mine in the post if I could
but both are heavily addicted
to tonic water and what goes
with it, so not fit for purpose
Hope you get one soon my friend

Great stuff Nathan!
Had my transplant in June 2010 and all is going well. If you need any info, advice, whatever, don’t hesitate to message me.
Best wishes,
Mike
December 10, 2012 at 23:01 #422340Best wishes Nathan
My PB for the 800m amble from Castle Hotel to County Ground is a femtosecond shy of ten minutes but my PB from County Ground back to Castle Hotel rather more than one hour, give or take. Ring any Bells?

Take care

Glad to hear everything’s goes well Nathan.
Echo the calls for "opting out" instead of in. Suspect if it wasn’t for religeous groups it would be in place by now. I carry the card.Value Is EverythingDecember 10, 2012 at 23:29 #422347Good to hear, Nathan. Best wishes for a healthy and happy future to you and yours.
December 10, 2012 at 23:37 #422348Crikey Nathan, when you said you needed a weekend off the comp scoring because you had something on… I thought you were off shopping or suchlike!
Very, very best wishes.

Don’t worry about scoring for this week’s comp. Done it

Haven’t donated a kidney, but I do donate blood.

Good health and happiness for the future Nathan, and to Mike too and for highlighting how the gift of a kidney can so dramatically change the lives of children and older people suffering from kidney disease.
If more people were like Richard Pitman and Mikes friend the world would be a happier and healthier place for a lot of folk.
My daughter had Leukemia at 2 and again it came back at 5 years of age in the central nervous system, each time a long hard course of radiotheraphy and chemo got her through and luckily she didn’t need a bone marrow transplant, but if she had we would also have been reliant on the generosity of family and friends. Thankfully she won her fight, but we are great supporters of carrying the card..Jac
