Have the stewards commented on this?
Thoughts?
He seemed to do very little wrong from my perspective.
October 3, 2010 at 10:11 #320606Stewards’ secretary Simon Cowley said: "In the incident on the bend Richard had looked over his left shoulder as he knew things were going to be tight, but made no attempt to pull his mount off.
"It caused a domino effect on the inside where a number of horses were hampered and as that is in the realms of considerable careless riding the stewards felt they had no option but to hand out the penalty."

I was waiting for something to happen other than the incident at the start when watching the replay

It was a tight one and Hughsie and as Cowley said he didn’t try and pull his mount off. Not an easy thing to do when so close to a bend at 30-40mph
Hughsie’s mount had jumped well and taken a fierce hold so what he did instead was give him his head a touch and tried to quicken to clear the horse to his left so not to cause a problem.
He mishudged it a fraction but Luke Morris made it look much worse by taking an exagerated pull to let Hughsie past. Morris seemed to either panic or lose control but hes actions looked somewhat over the top.
I would imagine that will be the foudation of Hughsie’s appeal and he might just win.
Certainly didn’t look intentional on Hughsie’s part and 6 days seems a very harsh. Includes Champions day as well…….That’s absolute nonsense for such a minor incident
Cost him less for causing a pile up on the M6 ffs
I should add I wouldn’t think Paul Hanagan wants to win the tilre this way.
October 10, 2010 at 15:24 #321701All jockeys should be suspended for such riding including Frankie.

That is not the issue. The issue is, did it warrant
seven days
?!
