Why is Hamdan Al Maktoum[/color:2lrzghd5] so loyal to him?
September 13, 2011 at 19:14 #370868I have no idea, however soemone with more knowledge will explain why.
I think it may be down to the success he as had over the years for Hamdan.
If like me you think he is not the best then yes I can understand your point.September 13, 2011 at 19:39 #370871You have to remember that from the start of his retainer, Richard Hills was riding mostly steering jobs at small courses in the North, and his job has not been much more demanding in later years.
I often wonder which of the Hills twins has had the more lucrative career: Richard has had the Maktoum retainer but not much to show beyond it, while Michael has had the majority of his father’s stable rides, but presumably with no retainer.
Michael has certainly had more outside rides over the years, so perhaps that tells a story.
September 13, 2011 at 19:40 #370872A combination of past success, unerringly loyalty, the fact that Richard always rides to orders. On top of that I imagine that the 2 people actually get on well,
While he is not perhaps the greatest jockey to grace the turf, he knows that keeping his non-gambling employer happy is considerably more important for his employment status than the legions of gamblers who do not pay his retainer.
September 14, 2011 at 16:21 #370936I wonder which particular pocket Royal and No Idea are speaking from.Richard has taken a lot of stick over the years mainly because he’s not a flashy jockey but certainly a very effective one especially good from the front
September 15, 2011 at 20:15 #371054What’s wrong with him? Where is the evidence that he is not very good?
September 15, 2011 at 21:56 #371062If more folks showed loyalty to others, this world would be a much better place. Are you listening Michael Owen?
