If you have had the account for 15 years and been an honest punter all that time then what I said doesn’t apply and you have been the victim of a jobsworth.

By the way get the Hot Chocolate if you are in the bookies, it’s costs them 5p more than the tea and coffee so you can get your money back that way!

There was quite a good looking lass in there too. Mind that was 10 years ago

I didn’t realise it was that bad. Starting to regret having a good Aintree now Ive not bet on the exchanges for years as I’m mainly an each way on outsiders punter. Might have to revisit them though if the William Hill account I have just opened is the same. Thanks for the reply

I find it better when using the exchanges to put separate win and place bets on rather than use the each way markets.
I normally bet on 8 or 9 runner races and if non runners cut the field to 6 or 7, I still get three places.

You have to use silly methods to avoid stuff like this.
I resorted to using apps on individual devices , vpns.
For Betfair and Betdaq id use on the pc. If i had to use a bookmaker account id have to wipe cookies etc and then again after i logged out. Once they know you are earmarked.
Sadly the gambling commission won’t do a thing to protect punters against discriminative actions.
PS …don’t use a fixed IP from your ISP.

Billy mountains restricted me years ago.
    Ladcrooks next.
Then flutter(betfair) came out and barely used an online bookmaker for years.

I do remember opening a 365 account about 6-7 years ago and was very careful when ever the account gained. I would always chuck in a few mug accas.

PS yes william hill are the worst.
When online betting came out i did really well at the start. Then a couple of years later they started to restrict. I told em to swivel.

    Guys

    Anyone know why?

For last few years i’ve been using the same couple of online bookies for my bets.
Cheltenham festival week i signed up with Paddy Power and their free bets offer.
Since then i’ve used PP on a limited number of occasions.
Just now i wanted to place a bet on a 25/1 shot at Nmkt tomorrow. But they limited me to a £3 stake!!
    Is this normal with PP?
    Anyone know why?

    Cheers Wilts

I opened an account with PP some years ago.

After a month I was a measly £600 up and I was restricted and now cannot back any horse to win more than £5.

They are so different from how they portray themselves in their marketing it’s hilarious.

You strike me as a pretty good judge, Wilts, with some good angles.

I suspect you’ve made the error of backing a winner!

    Or one that’s shortened up!

Betting is for “fun,” not “winning!”

You’re not having “fun” if you’re winning!

    They can’t be having THAT!

Like u say Ian it seems like PP are totally the opposite of what their marketing portrays.
Oh well, just keeps me with my regular bookies.

Whilst punters outwardly complain about being restricted, I think some quietly like it and see it as a badge of honour as it marks them as a shrewdie.

I honestly don’t see what you can do about it anyway. Bookies are free to do, or not do, business with whoever they like. It’s not directly comparable I know but if things start disappearing from my local Tesco whenever I walk in (which isn’t often admittedly, I prefer to do my shoplifting in Waitrose) then I’ll be banned. Bookies are essentially operating on the same principle although I realise that unlike bookies Tesco doesn’t give the impression that you are allowed to ‘win’.

Actually Richard, it just seems to be PP for me, and i’m fairly new to them. 365 never restrict me and i bet with them 90% of the time, with plenty of wins.
Just gone back in to my PP to place just a £5 e/w on a 40/1 shot for tomorrow; no chance! They’ll only allow me £1.87 e/w!!
£1.87 e/w! Pathetic really! Laughable as well.

Cant fathom out why? I’ve bet only a few times with PP in last 5 weeks or so, and only had 2 wins.
    Bizarre.

Love hearing these stories! My worst was when I opened a stanjames account, my first bet was £40 on a 4/1 shot, it won, they then limited my account to 10p stakes lol, absolute chancers!

Wilts – in cases like yours, I believe the most common cause for them to limit you is because you’re beating the SP I’d imagine, no balls at all these bookmakers any more sadly :(
