Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Responsible Gambling Week.
Please Gamble Responsibly…………All day, every day.
Thank you.
Sweet Jesus.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

There is a reason why they come so far apart in the Oxford Dictionary, Responsible & Gambling.Best Wishes
SilkOctober 18, 2017 at 07:21 #1322095I thought responsible gambling was ensuring bookmakers had a better life than their punters.
October 18, 2017 at 09:17 #1322101A great initiative. You may scoff but I think most punters, even those who steer clear of the casino games and machines, could learn a thing or two this week.
Are you betting £25 a time when you’ve only got £100 in your account? Are you juicing up an acca by adding an ‘overbet’ favourite? Do you try to blame jockeys and trainers when your selection has been beaten fair and square?
These aren’t the most degenerate or dangerous gambling no-nos, but I think they are the mistakes that stop good judges from becoming winning punters.

I added 15 overbet favs in my acca at the weekend
It was only Chelsea that let me down…..
At least with the one loser I had my 38p stake returnedGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
October 18, 2017 at 10:30 #1322109A great initiative.
What about Corals/Ladbrokes voluntarily reducing the maximum stake on FOBT’s to £2? Now that would be a good initiative.

No, we’re all on the lookout for one of those bad favourites LS
October 18, 2017 at 14:02 #1322119I remember an episode of The Simpsons where Marge was addicted to gambling. Mr Burns owned the casino and his lackey Waylon Smithers approached Marge and asked “Excuse me Madam, but don’t you think you’ve gambled enough”, to which she angrily replied “No!” Smithers casually responded “OK,carry on then, it’s just that the Gaming Commission insists that we ask every 72 hours”
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

There is a reason why they come so far apart in the Oxford Dictionary, Responsible & Gambling.Yes contradiction in terms… all of life to some degree is a gamble. or if there’s no risk in your life then you clearly lead a very boring existence. I would recommend anyone to challenge yourself, take a few months out of your life working in an office and do something you’ve never done before.
The problem with gambling on sports, is that it’s designed to be addictive. When your golfer drains a putt or your team scores or your horsey ranges up to the other horsey pulling double, your heart will inevitably thump out of your chest while your adrenaline levels go through the roof.
So yes when LS says don’t bet 25 a time when you only have 100 in your account then that’s all very well, but you could argue a TRUE gambler will bet the 100, because after all he is simply after some more of the drug that got him addicted in the first place, just like a drug addict is looking for that next hit. Have you ever met a responsible heroin addict?
