i don’t want to pay for his round-the-clock care anymore, his family should be doing that – he should be delivered to them this evening, let them look after him
July 4, 2007 at 17:18 #106085The State is exacting revenge on Biggs for doing a runner and living the life of Riley .. he’s not a danger to society and he should be freed immediately.
July 4, 2007 at 20:43 #106104Hate the hero-worship though, he’s a crim.
Mind, I’ve still got my original 45 of him & the Pistols belting out "No One Is Innocent":
"God save Martin Boorman and Nazis on the run
They wasn’t being wicked God that was their idea of fun.
God save Myra Hindley, God save Ian Brady
Even though he’s horrible and she ain’t what you call a lady"They, er, don’t write them like that anymore.

The sound on the video was awful, so didn’t do them justice, sounded like they were playing from the inside of a tin can. Well the audience seemed to be enjoying themselves, all two of them.

July 1, 2009 at 21:07 #11930First to be clear, I’ve never had much time for Ronnie Biggs he right royally took the piss and on the one hand deserves everything he gets. However, given his age (79?), current health and also the fact he can’t possibly be classified as a danger to the public – was the Home Office right to turndown his appeal for parole?
Considering we now have murderers, child sex abusers, rapists etc seemingly getting out after just a few years this does seem harsh. Has he become a political prisoner, his real crime being – taking the piss in Rio with the Sex Pistols etc.
July 2, 2009 at 02:05 #237340.. the establishment is vindictive, mean and cruel.
No MP’s will go to jail and yet they stole a lot more.
July 2, 2009 at 03:08 #237349People forget that someone was actually killed during the robbery which makes him a murderer not Robin Hood.
July 2, 2009 at 03:42 #237351Moe, no one was killed during the Great Train Robbery. The driver was hit on the head with an iron bar (most certainly not by Biggs) but died 7 years later from cancer, their is no link to his death and the robbery.
July 2, 2009 at 11:07 #237366Ronnie Biggs is a gangster, a career criminal who was convicted for his involvement in a serious armed robbery.
Instead of taking his punishment like a man he escaped and lived the life or Riley, making amockery of justice and doing all he could to avoid serving his sentence, including impregnating a Brazilian woman in an attempt to avoid extradition.
How much concern did he show the victims of his crimes?
As far as I am concerned he has only served a third of his thirty years sentence, that is not enough.
Do I care he is a decrepit old man, not in the least – he made his bed he can lie in it. As far as I am concerned he can rot in his cell until he has served at least half his sentence.

Driver Mills suffered from debilitating intractable headaches for the rest of his life as a direct consequence of being coshed with an iron bar. In that respect the cancer that killed him could be viewed as a blessed release from a life ruined by a bunch of thugs.
A stark example of grievous bodily harm inflicted on the innocent. For that reason alone Biggs and the rest of his contemptible mates wholly deserved the 30 year ‘life’ sentences handed out.
Leave him to die incarcerated, in a decrepit physical state not a long way removed from that they left Jack Mills in.
He will likely remain in hospital, rather than a prison cell in any case
Well done Jack Straw
July 3, 2009 at 02:37 #237516.. it a bit disproportionate though considering these only got 14 years ..
Child Rapists
I suppose they would have got longer if they had nicked her purse instead of throwing caustic soda on her .. ?
