Lets wind the calendar back to January 2003 – the penultimate page where Darrell posted: –
The Majestic MK3
There was only a single posting and without any replies.
For any archive dweller they will be aware of his postings about the Majestic and I wonder if there are any here willing to try and tidy this one up: –
Principle meeting of the day.
Race with the fewest declared runners if more than one race choose the one with the shortest priced forecast favourite. If another split is required then go to the race of highest value.
Rate ALL the form of the first 5 in the betting forecast: –
5pts for a win
3pts for 2nds
2pts for 3rd place
1pt for those 4th or unplacedDistance winners, award 1pt.
The selection being the one with the most points.

With no mainland racing today I turned to NAAS and the 2.15.
Captain Arceus = 17pts Lost
Rule the World = 16 pts. [b:3pakad9a]Won 6/4[/color:3pakad9a][/b:3pakad9a]______________________________________________________________
I found the form rating perhaps an area requiring "tidying up" and maybe the introduction of Clive Holt’s Fine Form Master Formula may work better: –
Last two outings of current season form:
1st = 5pts
2nd = 3pts
3rd = 2pts
4th = 1ptIf only one race in current season double the points.
Captain Arceus still comes out on top.

Are there any alternative suggestions for this most simple but may be effective idea for a One A Day selection finder?

October 28, 2013 at 14:26 #456493On a day without any mainland racing I have rummaged around in the archives and cast my eyes across the Irish Sea
I was interested in a reply from
MrE
in December 2002 to a request from
belly2002
for a Simple System.
Check handicap races only from the foot of racecard and work upwards until the first horse is found which won LTO.
(Perhaps ideal with the present weather and ground conditions when a light weight may have an advantage)
Naas
3.15 Pass The HatLost
3.45 Alpha And Omega
Galway
2.35 Malt GemLost
4.05 Dazzlers Day

October 31, 2013 at 17:19 #456808Interesting.After all these years I still incorporate Clive Holts formula into my ratings.Although they only account for about 40% of the overall structure that I use I still think Clives ratings method is the most simple and effective out there.
