April 25, 2012 at 17:33 #402141Good news, I like Gordon. ATR underused him

lol, I meant will he not be working for both channels seeing as he is a freelance. Hold the queue hold the queue!
April 25, 2012 at 18:15 #402145I don’t think judging by the intense rivalary that there is between the two channels they will share a presenter.
I really wish the two channels would grow up a bit and work together instead of this constant them and us "the other channel" attitude.
I don’t see why both channels cannot show highlights or clips of horses what harm does it do really?
They are both on air for the same reason to support racing.
April 25, 2012 at 20:00 #402157I thought this was about the
other
Gordon Brown at first, now that would be must-see TV.
April 25, 2012 at 21:07 #402162I think Gordie does a good job on At The Races. He will certainly get more chances in Scotland now with the move of Perth and Kelso to Racing UK.
Wonder if Racing UK will make a public-spirited and selfless gesture of good will and try to compensate the At The Races viewers for the loss of Gordie by "kindly" sending Rishi Persad over to ATR as a reciprocal arrangement.
We can only pray that they don’t….
If they do, ATR might retaliate and send Jim McGrath and Robert Cooper over to Racing UK in a declaration of war.April 25, 2012 at 22:27 #402163ATR might retaliate and send Jim McGrath and Robert Cooper over to Racing UK in a declaration of war.
Even worse ATR might send over Simon Mapletoft and you definitely don’t want that
April 26, 2012 at 05:59 #402175I wonder who ATR will now have as they North East area presenter Gordie used to do Hexham, Sedgefield, Ripon & ocassionally Doncaster.
I wonder if Martin Kelly could be his replacement?
What will we do without hearing "Welcome to Ripon the garden racecourse" and "Welcome to Hexham Britain’s highest racecourse"
I see from the schedule he isn’t doing Musselburgh on Thursday they are sticking with Alex Steedman.

What will we do without hearing "Welcome to Ripon the garden racecourse" and "Welcome to Hexham Britain’s highest racecourse"Every time I have watched Doncaster, it has always been Simon Mapletoft who has been presenting the meeting. No doubt he could quite easily travel north to Hexham.
He often seems to turn up at Southwell as well.
I can never understand why Simon Mapletoft gets criticism. He has been getting some stick elsewhere recently. He does a very competent, fluent and knowledgeable job, from what I have seen.
At The Races has recently lost Richard Pitman, who voluntarily stood down after coming home from Hereford and telling his wife he didn’t want to do it any more.April 26, 2012 at 07:26 #402179Wonder if Racing UK will make a public-spirited and selfless gesture of good will and try to compensate the At The Races viewers for the loss of Gordie by "kindly" sending Rishi Persad over to ATR as a reciprocal arrangement

I hate it when he pops up at Wimbledon, interviewing the players after matches.
You can take so-called versatility too far.
He’ll be turning up commentating on the Boat Race next.April 26, 2012 at 07:37 #402182Wonder if Racing UK will make a public-spirited and selfless gesture of good will and try to compensate the At The Races viewers for the loss of Gordie by "kindly" sending Rishi Persad over to ATR as a reciprocal arrangement

April 26, 2012 at 07:45 #402184Broony of course turned down RUK a few years ago to stay at ATR.
How many racing presenters have worked for the BBC’s, C4’s, RUK’s and ATR’s televised coverage of horse racing?
Very unscientific research but I think I can think of 2, although there could be more. Anyone know who they are and of any more who’ve done the clean sweep?

I thought Hunty had that sewn upI was deliberately exercising a self-denying ordinance and not mentioning him. You’ve flushed me out again.
Rishi and him are vying with each other as to who can be the most "versatile", what with John Hunt turning his attentions next to the Olympics. Not to mention Lee McKenzie commentating on the Olympics as well.April 26, 2012 at 08:06 #402187He’ll be turning up commentating on the Boat Race next

Either way they love being versatile do our faces of racing.
We should start a thread on "faces of racing and their chosen olympic sport to cover".

April 26, 2012 at 09:39 #402194Graham Cunningham excepted, RUK’s pundits north of Haydock are a pale imitation of their southern colleagues. This news does nothing to redress the balance.
What a pity. Must be far more worthy candidates out there, champing at the bit for an opportunity.
Still, I like the way he says "cheek-pea-cees"
