"Mid table there’s nothing much on my fork
It’s alright though ‘cos I can go for my walk
    Around Cartmel, mathematically safe
With no alarm bell, we’re mathematically safe"

    – "Mathematically Safe", (c) 2000 Half Man Half Biscuit

    "I blew my Giro
    On debt and essentials
    Cosi Fan Tutte
    I’ll miss you again
    I asked for water
They sent me a final demand
    Placepot Uttoxeter
    Down by one thirty-five"

    – "Split Single with Happy Lounge Labelmates", (c) 1998 Half Man Half Biscuit

Off James’s ‘Laid’ album there was a song called Sometimes(Lester Piggott). Don’t think it had much of arcaing theme other than that though.

There is ‘Campdown Races’ of course. Doo Dah.

And, closer to home, ‘Blaydon Races’.

And who can foget the immortal ‘Best Mate, Best Maaa-ate, Be-est Mate, Best Mate’
