i can’t believe people still do, cavalino – somebody once said to me at lingfield they couldn’t justify getting a computer or getting online as well as paying about 500 a year for the RP. i pointed out they could buy a computer and a years internet supply for that money and there was more online but for some, the grubby piece of paper has a linus-blanket effect i guess
are any bookies opening a market on whether the rp-tip line will beat others, such as valuescope or whatever, and will one of the 7 daily tipsters get relegated or replaced if he does shoite, etc ?
January 1, 2008 at 10:30 #132673Jeez, that Simon Rowlands is a damned attractive man, isn’t he?

January 1, 2008 at 10:44 #132676Any other details on when this ‘new’ service will begin or how wide-ranging their remit is i.e spreads, exchanges, fixed odds etc…or just what some of their credentials are?
Many thanks
January 1, 2008 at 11:27 #132677For what’s supposed to be the trade newspaper its dire. It does have the odd interesting interview now and again but they are few and far between.
The UK broadsheets do a far better job covering issues in racing with much better journalists imo and I can always read the worthwhile analysis of Prufrock here and elsewhere on the net.
January 1, 2008 at 11:30 #132678I got off my arse and i’m afraid spending the money on a 10p Lucky 15 would have been better and probably given more interest.
I suppose Sun and Star racing pullout readers will like it and plenty of others will relish it i’m sure, particularly if the experts provide trading opportunities for em

IMO, young Mr Rowlands giving out tips is a waste of resources
January 1, 2008 at 12:02 #132682IMO, Mr Rowlands isn’t young

Kirsty Milczarek is probably thinking something similar Smithy
January 3, 2008 at 22:08 #133228IMHO this tipping one day a week malarkey is doomed to failure- given the laws of probability some of these guys are going to have losing runs of 6 to 8 tips, which means not tipping a winner for two months by which time Joe Public will be baying for their blood- rather you than me Pru!
January 3, 2008 at 22:19 #133233Presumably, given the laws of probability, at least one of the individuals concerned will have an impressive winning run that is down to nothing more than chance.
I just hope the jammy b’stard is me!

Good luck Simon.By the way, does anyone know if Segal and Willoughby were seperated at birth? I could never tell who was who, and now seeing them side by side has confirmed why I thought this

January 3, 2008 at 23:02 #133236There was a time a couple of years ago when the management at the Post was trying to cosy up to the staff in the face of the "threat" posed by the imminent launch of The Sportsman, who had been trying to poach a lot of its staff.
Jeremy Reed, one of the top brass at the Post, sauntered up to James Willoughby at a do, sweet-talked him for a while, and then said "so, Tom, how’s the tipping going?"
March 22, 2008 at 15:28 #9029Does anyone know where the ‘reports’ section which gives a round up of the action at a meeting has disappeared to?
The cuttings library also seems to have been dispensed with, on at least it will only fins stories from August or earlier.
Or is it me being thick again?
March 22, 2008 at 15:28 #7196why oh why in the RP, on the racecards under the racetimes, do they not just show RUK or ATR ?
why bother showing what terrestrial might or might not bother with, there are two full time racing channels covering all tracks and if i can’t remember which channel the next race is going to be on i do not want to be told Ch4 or BBC
very minor gripe i know but an oversight by the usually good RP
March 22, 2008 at 15:42 #153303No offence mate but its a silly moan. You only have to click back to the main page to find out what channel races are on. Alternatively open another window and just keep it on Racing Post’s homepage.
Not hard is it? And I thought I could moan at nothing.
April 5, 2008 at 07:55 #7363One of the main reasons I buy the Post is to see all the prices before they go live in the morning. Does anyone know why none of the races besides the National was priced up this morning?

Pretty sure it’s common practice on National day, as those nice bookies would rather deal with the ‘mug money’ when they can have it thrown at them like today.
Pretty peeved myself, as there are some good televised races with no pre-race thoughts from connections. - AuthorPosts
