Companies House now showing the neutral information that Ian Heaney ceased on 3rd October to be a director of the RP’s owner, Stradbrook Acquisitions Limited.
Mr Heaney’s LinkedIn profile says he’s been at the RP since 1987, most recently as:
– Director of RP Labs at Racing Post; and
– Managing Director, Digital Division at Racing Post

Not yet 50 according to public filings.
If I was a private equity type looking to take over the RP through buying the debt cheap off the Irish taxpayer and then calling in the Anglo-Irish loan at face value from the present owners, I might be looking to sign-up a person with that kind of CV to present as my ‘Alan Byrne alternative’ for actually running the thing.
[ But I’m not. For clarification: I know nothing about what’s going on, know none of the people involved, and am just idly putting >>what-ifs<< together from the outside using snippets of information that show up occasionally in the public domain. ]

August 18, 2015 at 09:22 #1172255I must say the new ‘paint job’ at Racing Post online does make it feel a little strange after so many years with the customary black background !!
August 18, 2015 at 12:53 #1172558I don’t see any videos in the form returns.
I used to be on the customer panel – they would send us new ideas they were trying out. They were attempting to make the form more searchable, but it never came to anything. In fact it seems to be a long time since they changed anything. With no video content they could certainly do with some formbook enhancements.
I for one am seriously thinking of ditching them.

November 11, 2015 at 07:52 #1221150If you didn’t know by now Pat Eddery passed away yesterday.
If you managed to login to the Post this morning you will find that every link you click a bright purple banner drops down asking you visited the Pat Eddery blog.
I found that I couldn’t function after about a minute compiling my speed figures, every horse I was analysing a bright purple banner dropped down.
At 04:50am this morning I couldn’t even login to the website, the visit the Pat Eddery blog link even took over the login Function.
It was a very sad day when I heard Pat Eddery had passed, how can I put it to the Racing Post without swearing, I do not want to visit the Pat Eddery blog, stop the drop down links I have got ******* work to do.
Kind regards
Mike.

November 11, 2015 at 08:36 #1221155Just use Adblock or similar to block the frame.
I am running adblock, this is a Racing post link that is bypassing adblock’s functionality.
November 11, 2015 at 08:43 #1221156Well, I can block-it – I have just gone back to the site it is not popping-up any-more.
November 11, 2015 at 09:33 #1221157The problem looks to be with Firefox v41, adblock is not working, played about with settings to no avail.
the good new is, the cretins at the Racing Post have remove the offending links
November 11, 2015 at 09:53 #1221159I’ve FF v42 and with adblock running no RP popup problems
November 11, 2015 at 10:20 #1221161I’ve FF v42 and with adblock running no RP popup problems
Took time out from compiling my speed figures as I was so angry, now learning about custom filters using adblock plus so that the Racing Post will never be able to pull a stroke like this on me again.

November 12, 2015 at 13:22 #1221316Using Firefox I can’t get past the home page of RP site today, and that just keeps constantly refreshing itself. No problems when using Internet Explorer.

September 10, 2016 at 11:58 #1262799Does everyone have the extra line with just the horse’s owner name or have I mistakenly clicked on a settings link ? Hope so as i find it quite annoying.
September 10, 2016 at 12:18 #1262805If you click on ‘Customise Card’ at the top of the race card you can choose which bits of info are included…….
personally I choose ‘Conditions’ for the race conditions and Owner and Pedigree for the horses
Looks like you’ve clicked on Owner at some point…….though to be fair the Racing Post site does appear only to save your customised settings for about 5 minutes and constantly changes them on a whim…….
