Another great 2yo group one on the cards this week, this time at Doncaster.
Jim Bolger’s highly impressive Gan Amdrahs was dropped out at the declarations and leaves Masterofthehorse and Jukebox Jury fighting for favouritism.
For me though, SKANKY BISCUIT is the one to watch here and the form of his debut win at Newbury just a few weeks back has again been franked today (the 7th in the field winning with a superb turn of foot today). Skanky Biscuit will most definitely improve from the last run/win and the booking of Davy Bonilla is an interesting one.
Of the others, Weald Park has been crying out for a mile ever since chasing home Firth of Fifth at Newmarket’s July meeting. The trip will suit but the horse just seems to be dropping rapidly out of form. Crowded House chased home Donatavium last time out and is one to watch.
Of the two at the top of the pack I definitely favour Jukebox Jury here. The run at Ascot was one that beat a lot of horses stuck in high-profile trendlines and the step up to the mile just seemed to be perfect for him. Masterofthehorse doesnt quite do it for me and the run last time didnt give me anything to get excited by. (Although that in itself after my Intense Focus comments last week could be a tip on its own….)
Good luck if youre playing
1pt JUKEBOX JURY
1pt SKANKY BISCUIT (E/W)October 25, 2008 at 03:17 #186300Red Spider is the one for me

Jukebox Jury’s form was done no harm when On Our Way won at Newmarket recently, and he has to be the call, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Indian Ocean might go well back on firmer ground.

October 25, 2008 at 19:45 #186396So close yet so far
Always horrible when youve got the 2nd and 3rd
October 25, 2008 at 19:45 #186397Christ!
How much did the winner have in hand?
Spencer seemingly doing his best to mess it up at one stage.
October 25, 2008 at 20:19 #186399Winner was extremely impressive. Short list for the Derby.

Let’s get the Guineas out of the way first, Ian.
That’s the sort of performance the two-year-old division has been craving all season – finally something to induce a little excitement.
October 26, 2008 at 15:32 #186591I’m impressed! Crowded House showed an amazing turn of speed and certainly looks a Derby horse.
After what Donativum did in Santa Anita yesterday, perhaps the 2 Y O form isn’t as average as some of us make it out to be.
October 26, 2008 at 16:36 #186599You couldn’t not be impressed with Crowded House and although I don’t think he beat much he certainly looks a good Derby prospect being by Rainbow Quest. Surprised Spencer didn’t pick up a suspension.

The trouble with Donativum is he has no knackers….

What odds do they make him, I have to agree that its was a very impressive performance. Quickened very impressively

10’s generally across the board
October 27, 2008 at 02:01 #186685Cheers HWTH, thats not an overly bad price really, I hope he trains on next season as he does look an exciting prospect.

Grr – I woke up this morning and realised this, so my articles on Donativum’s win "swelling the 2009 Classic portrait" are false

Indeed, he won’t be winning any classics. I would ship him off to the US.

Exact plans are undecided but apparently they are considering a US campaign to take in the Kentucky Derby though his pedigree doesn’t suggest he would stay.
