Are the American Derbies open to Geldings? I would have thought Darley would aim Midshipman at that…

Yes geldings can run. Midshipman is also be considered for it.
October 28, 2008 at 16:06 #186841I was impressed when I saw this horse win, but I’m not rushing to take the Guineas or Derby quotes- it smells a bit of a late season race where not many gave their running. I’d like to see him do it again before hailing him as the real deal. some turn of foot on the day though.

You’ll have top take 3/1 for the Derby though afterwards though! I’d hold ante-post wise because I’m concerned they’ll run him in the wrong race. He should have a Guineas prep not a Derby one.
October 30, 2008 at 14:37 #187133The turn of foot tells you he’s a seriously good horse. Might be a bit speedy for the Derby but certainly a major contender for the Guineas.

October 23, 2010 at 14:07 #324067Well done Mick Halford. His best horse since the great Golden Cross who was robbed of Cheltenham glory!
I hope he keeps Casamento for his 3yo career now.
October 24, 2010 at 00:41 #324185Did I get off at the wrong station? The adds on the platform say Crowded House.
October 24, 2010 at 01:49 #324188Having watched the euphoria of the pundits as they raved over the Henry Cecil trained Frankel after his Dewhurst victory you can imagin my shock at the first observation by Graeme Rodway in the Racing Post when asked about the Irish trained winner."He was a bit slow"and I say go listen if you don’t believe me. If only he had been trained by Stouty or by our beloved Henry.Incidentally the horse struck me as being a lot more professional than Frankel.Perhaps Frankie is a lot more professional than Moore was in the Derby or Queally in the Royal Lodge.Perhaps older jockeys have a thing or two to teach the young lads. I feel that Casamento got a very easy race, not unlike Kinane and Sea the Stars last year.Easy but not slow.
