So, even at 10 pence a week, you wouldn’t be interested?

Is it the principle or the amount, Paul?

Well worth a tenner a month and the sooner they start charging the better as far as I’m concerned.

    Why?

I agree that its a fine site but why would anyone prefer to pay for something that is free

    Very odd….

Because the data will be even more useful if it’s available to fewer people Clive.

Fair point, but a bit morally dubious. I guess the lower echelons of society have got FOBTs to keep themselves amused/penniless…

Next thing we know, the government will be trying to stop the working classes from being able to drink alcohol!

(Hopefully it won’t come to that because advertising revenue is so dependant on ‘viewing’ figures, but the RP is hardly awash with prime advertisers…)

but having access to the data and understanding how to interpret it are two very different things DJ.

In an age where transparency is the aim we should be following the investment sector’s suit and making information more freely available – especially given the ongoing doubts surrounding the integrity of the sport.

Yes I know the RP are not a charity and it isn’t their responsibility but they generate income from the sport and what good will it do re: attracting new interest in the sport if the 16yr old who is keen cannot afford to access the required information ?.

The sport has always carried a stigma of being advantageous to ‘those in the know’ – Charging for this service is not going to help.

    A bit of both Seabird.

Racing seems to think it is different all the time – £10 p/m to access a website is steep IMO especially when you’ll then probably have to pay again to view video form.

Making the video form FREE for Cheltenham week was a great gesture I thought so I hope they keep things as they are.

As long as they put the whole paper online I don’t mind paying £10 per month as I buy the hard copy daily. This would save me about £400 per annum.

The Big 3 will decide how much the online RP subscription will cost, it is their propaganda rag after all. Bearing that in mind, subscription costs (if any) will be modest imo.

I dont see why they dont charge, everyone else is trying their best to rip the arse out of punters, why not them?

Personally, I wouldnt pay anything for a load of useless ratings and lame opinions.

You already have to pay to look at race replays that’s enough there’s no need to charge for anything else, give people a break. Its free now, why shouldn’t it remain free?

£10 per month would be extortionate given that racing is an ongoing process 52 weeks of every year. That would simply be ripping people off and I’m sorry but I for one will not be ripped off. £120 per year to view the Racing Post site? You’re having a laugh ain’t ya?

Flash, you are talking rubbish. If you use the Timeform website, you have to pay for the information. If you got everything that was in The Racing Post paper, on the website, it would represent tremendous value at only £10 a month, I would be the first to sign up. To be honest I would probably pay for it in it’s current capacity anyway.

Thats your personal choice. No way would I pay for something that they’ve given for free for the last god knows how long. You must be mad to want to. Just donate your money to them if you can’t wait to get rid of it or better still donate it to me I’m not too proud. 8)

Yeah why? If you’re going to insult or abuse me please make it original at least that way I will find some comedy amongst your nastiness.
