Ruby making comparisons between Min and Kauto. I think the Ankle is gonna be a cracker this year. It has been a glorified coronation the last few years but it’s the race I’m looking forward to the most.
January 3, 2017 at 00:41 #1280013Spot on Joe, The Champion Hurdle & The Gold Cup are definitely the big 2, “prestige wise”, though I won’t say too much else on it so the thread doesn’t get diverted, as these things often do.
January 3, 2017 at 00:47 #1280014Spot on Vautour, it’s been pretty run of the mill for a few years this race, with only the odd Superstar covering the cracks in the 2 Mile Chase Division, thank god for Sprinter, Douvan etc.
I agree as well about this year though, think it will be a cracker, and I’d love to see all the main protagonists turn up. Bar my few quid on the outsider Ordinary World, I’ll leave this one alone, and enjoy without a proper bet. Genuinely the first time I’ve been excited about The Arkle, so fingers crossed the line up on the day justifies my excitement.
January 3, 2017 at 19:39 #1280124This is shaping up to be a classic match race
I do think Min has a better chance of beating Altoir over hurdles, but whether it’ll be enough of a difference I guess we’ll have to see
January 3, 2017 at 22:39 #1280146Really not seeing any reason why Min beats Altior or why it’s even considered.
More chance of cue Card beating TC and that won’t happen.
People judging this like a rematch as if they are fairly level talent wise.
Shouldn’t even be in the same breathe if you ask me. This whole round 2 thing makes people think it could go either way and then they see the prices and think MIN is great value. It’s Not!
Altior is totally different league to Min.
buveur Dair would of beaten Min of it had been given a better ride.
I don’t buy this whole min was injured bollocks. You don’t run 2nd in a supreme if you’re injuredJesus, you like your hyperbole. Do not forget Sprinter Sacre was 3rd in a Supreme Novices hurdle and light years ahead 12 months later. Don’t bother with the suspected injury line, Mins jumping wasn’t up to scratch – there was a few lengths in that no question. Not to take from the awesome Altior – it was a massive performance but 2nd and 3rd were top class also (sectionals validate this). The race is priced up about right but push comes to shove, based on what we’ve seen in last 3 months there’s a smudge more value in Mins price. It will be some race.
January 4, 2017 at 12:32 #1280196Min is 4/6 in the betting without Altior market. That’s a great price for anyone throwing a few trebles together.
January 4, 2017 at 14:58 #1280211Who will ride ALTIOR come the festival? I hope connections will stick with Noel Fehily and don’t switch back to nico de Boinville

When is he back? You would think they would want a prep before the Festival otherwise it would probably make more sense to stay with Fehily.
January 4, 2017 at 16:39 #1280220Henderson has already confirmed Nico will definitely ride if he’s fit and well.
January 4, 2017 at 17:00 #1280221When is Nico be back?
January 4, 2017 at 21:47 #12802551-2 weeks.
NDB has a better strike rate than Fehily over the Cheltenham fences
January 9, 2017 at 18:29 #1281055Yorkhill at 9-1 for me. Love this horse and I really did want him to stay over hurdles, but that door looks closed now.
I don’t bet a lot of horses Ante-post, and deliberately don’t get involved with the Mullins merry go round. I just pick one horse and stick with him. I think 9-1 could look an enormous price after the weekend, even with the very real chance he could run in The JLT
I would have to agree with those who replied to my post, and my bet is looking less likely now with The JLT looking like the more realistic target.
I wasn’t blown away by his debut over fences anyway and I still have a little hope left that he will end up in The Champion Hurdle.
Good luck with Min guys, I think that was the right choice, and good luck KSS with your Yorkhill JLT wager.
January 9, 2017 at 18:40 #1281069I think we’ll see fireworks with Altior. Think they’ll unleash him and hoping we see something really special.
January 10, 2017 at 16:57 #1281286Henderson has already confirmed Nico will definitely ride if he’s fit and well.
NJH said today that Fehily might ride “We know it’s an issue.”
Also, Altior will get a QM entry “in case Douvan doesn’t turn up.” Taking short odds about him for the Arkle looking increasingly risky. He might get a run in the Game Spirit and if he hosed up there, Douvan or no Douvan, they’d have to be tempted to go QM.

Those quotes appear to have been taken from the On The Line chat I mentioned on the Crisp thread. If you had heard the chat you would be very, very surprised if the horse went near the Queen Mother although Nicky seemed very keen on a match-up with Douvan next season.
January 11, 2017 at 12:03 #1281425I’d be very surprised if Nico didn’t ride. Won the Supreme on the horse, stable jockey. Fehily has only rode it in bang average races against crabs.
Although I would prefer Fehily to ride the horse as he is the most underrated jockey on the planet I’d be shocked.
January 23, 2017 at 22:27 #1283508I really can’t contain it but ALTIOR wins this so easily and will beat min further in this than the supreme.
Feel like we have only scratched the surface with Altior.
Not even confident min finishes 2nd. -
