It is a shame Bosranic. However, whereas I feel she was the best filly at Newmarket she was lucky today. Rosanara must be counted very unlucky.

Maybe its time to get the law involved because to win 2 classics in the stewards room is quite remarkable and defies the laws of psychics

Dont care im not a ******* spell checker you wet tart.
May 16, 2010 at 14:47 #295970Hmmm. I think I disagree with you there Mr Stivli. It’s the racing pattern that a top trainer has judged to be best suiting the horse. He was knocked over at the start and by the winner in the straight.
Presvis was still held up in the races where he ran clear at the finish. Opponents don’t tend to fall away as easily at Gr1 level as they do in those ( Sandown/Newbury ) contests. Your anti Ryan Moore sentiment is noted but somewhat unfounded in my opinion. He’s only ever as good as the horses on the day.
Unlike many other jockeys Ryan Moore can actually extract a little extra from most horses. Like all jockeys he is human and prone to the odd mistake.
Yes, horses don’t fall away so easily which is precisely why you can’t give them so much start. In my opinion Moore made his own trouble early on by making a dart for the inside. Basically you are saying carry on using the same losing tactics? Great idea.
May 16, 2010 at 14:52 #295972Put Spencer on Presvis it start winning again i still can’t get that ride Moore gave Leocorno out my head last year.
Nice to see Marchand’dor win again and come back to form what Ascot race will he go for now
Happy that Special Duty won today even though it was awarded to her
And all this interferance hope this does not in October with Daryakana in the Arc
May 16, 2010 at 14:55 #295973Special Duty the best horse in the race and deserved the win. Quite why she wasn’t taken wide after the bend for a clear run on the outside when it was apparent to everyone that she’d need to be the equine equivalent of a darning needle to thread her way through the pack in front is anybody’s guess. Over-confidence from teh jockey I suspect.
Same was the case for the favourite in the 2,000. Jockey ruined any chance the horse had.

What are you insuating MrW.?
In my view the stewards made the right decision in both instances and it’s just coincidence that the the same filly benefited on both occasions.
May 16, 2010 at 15:00 #295975Trainer said that Special Duty had never handled a bend on a racetrack before; maybe the jockey was told to keep her behind horses? Only a theory; haven’t seen the race.

Agree with that, Corm.
The right decision was made and Special Duty the best filly in the race, but if Jean-Bernard Eyquem had not made the move that eventually lost him the race, then Stephane Pasquier would never have found a way through.
Have had a soft spot for Special Duty ever since her defeat to Arcano and she wouldn’t be disgraced in the July Cup.
What a bunch of top quality milers we have at present. Rip Van Winkle, Paco Boy and Goldikova representing the older generation. The likes of Special Duty and possibly Canford Cliffs, Dick Turpin and not forgetting Makfi and Steinbeck for the classic generation.
Dick Turpin ran a solid race today and the winner was something of a forgotten horse.
Here’s hoping the Sussex Stakes can attract a high quality field this year.
May 16, 2010 at 15:28 #295982I don’t normally fall in to this trap, and normally cite Lester (every year people say the 3yo’s are a poor crop, and every year they are proved wrong) when i am tempted to, but – the 3yo’s are a bit uninspiring aren’t they?

I suppose Special Duty done well for a sprinter!, thats a pretty stamina influenced sprinter if you ask me.
May 16, 2010 at 16:30 #295992Good to see the ‘Birdie’ get in there today…proved something too by doing so!

‘Rocket’ was a crazy price…

‘Lizard’s Desire’ showed what a tough horse he is – well done MDK!
