I think he’ll be even better on blisteringly quick ground. He’s something else on his day.

Makes Sir Percy’s one defeat look even more honourable. ;)

GEORGE WASHINGTON is not a horse I like to back and I haven’t done during his career so far but I will do on Saturday. The horse was clearly too fresh last time and wouldn’t settle (I’ve written this all before) but to finsih 3rd was a good effort. I think he will take all the beating in the QE II as long as the horse has been prepared for the race (and if you can’t trust O’Brien who can you trust?)
Snapped up that 3/1 and not a moment’s worry

A comfortable victory. Godolphin will be disappointed with theirs though.

In Proclamation’s defence I think he’s a genuine soft ground horse. Best to judge him in such conditions its not soft out there today.

Jackane George is mine, hands off. ;)

You read it in my article first folks! Godolphin are a tiny dot on the horse racing rainbow compared to Ballydoyle.

I’m still shaking he was so good!

Well done to everyone who kept the faith! Loyalty pays!

Market man – I’ll fight you for him! But Aidan O’B may rip off that suit and put on a pair of boxing gloves so I think I’ll back done now while I still have my teeth!

What a horse and what a trainer. Fantastic. I thought the ground would be too easy for him but he surpassed even my expectations.

His trainers words after the race tells us all we need to know.

I think ability wise he’s the best miler we’ve seen for near enough twenty years.

He was never in doubt, as soon as it was clear they werent pulling him out it was always going to be the gorgeous one.

Has silenced his doubters for the second time this season.

The lesson – Never bet against pure class!

Another lesson, dont simply assume every quote from Aidan O’Brien is hype or spin. And also listen when he tells you a horse is not ready or will come on for the race. O’Briens comments after Goodwood reminded me of similar comments he made about his 3 year olds making their seasonal debuts this season…Alexandrova, Aussie Rules and co all got beat first time out but O’Brien insisted in the next race they would be different animals. And so he was proved right.

    Gorella and Aragorn

George would and will crush the likes of Aragorn who was struggling to win races in Europe let alone Group 1s. A top class European turf horses will always be more than a match for the American Turf horses no matter how good they look. George is more than top class, his biggest threat will be luck in running.

Do NOT underestimate these two horses and btw, yer very good a saying this will crush that etc – what the feck happened to Holy Roman Empire once it met a horse with the same ability?

george washington will win the breeders cup and then i hope he runs as a four year old. he was different class today and i think he will be unbeatable as a four year old. a great mature performance today.

Superb to be there and see it… was on Araafa and no complaints about his run :)

I think Aidan is right about Aidan (LOL) but its strikes me that there has been much more straightforward information out of balltdoyle this season than sometimes previously

Could do without the yahboo football type comments on this board from one member though

had doubts whether a sharp turning US track would suit George but he moved so well today its hard to see that being critical now

I think there is a big difference between comparing raw two year olds and mature three year olds coming to the end of the season. I thought HRE would win comfortably but I never actually rated him that highly and always thought Teofilio would be a better 3 year old, it appears he is mature enough to be a better 2 year old as well.

We see this so often with American turf horses, European horses should never be afraid of them. We heard Leroidesanimaux was a monster yet an average Group 1 winner like Whipper was unlucky not to beat them last year, same with horses like Kittens Joy and Shakespere who are beaten or pressed close by "average" European Group 1 horses like Ace and Powerscourt.

You have picked up on a point I made earlier trackside. I really think Fallon’s influence on O’Brien and Ballydoyle has been huge. From years of riding for Cecil and Stoute he definately (to my eyes) has encouraged O’Brien to see each race as a stepping stone. Its rare to see a Ballydoyle three year old and in particular two year old remotely fully wound up first time out as was the case back in the late 90’s early 00’s when Ballydoyle horses were winning well first time out at long odds on.
