I was looking through some of the races (and having a good day yesterday is colouring this) but I feel like I am and will enjoy this Punchestown more than Cheltenham. That’s not meant to take away from Cheltenham, other than to say some of the pressure surrounding it really told this year. It had to be a good Cheltenham, it had to have a story, it had to put racing in a positive light. More, you had to enjoy it, despite there being much less buzz around from random punters, and the online interest outside of racing people seeming much lower. I still got my beers in and sat down to watch it all, but after yesterday I specifically went out to buy beers today for the racing. It’s more low-key, and I actually think the racing might be better. For one, there’s fewer races to dodge into, but also Cheltenham gave form to some of the horses running yesterday and over the next couple of days. We have all the knowledge of Cheltenham, all the franking of performances, and now there’s another go around where horses are taking up rivalries again.
With that being said, I’m ignoring Cheltenham, to a degree, and going for outsiders with my bets today.
3.40 Flash De Touzaine 66/1 ew 5 places
4.15 Stranger Danger 14/1 ew 3 places
5.20 Telmesomethinggirl 13/2
7.00 Midnight Maestro 25/1 ew 5 placesApril 28, 2021 at 13:12 #1538313Great to have you back Fran The Man
Today’s definite selections….
1540 Bay Hill EW 7pls
1615 Suprise Package 33’s EW
1755 Melon
1900 Ten Ten 10’s…..and the possibles.
1720 Although I was slightly disappointed with Stattler at Cheltenham, I still think he’ll be very good. 8’s is a fair price, and I’m verging on taking that. My problem with him is that I’m really happy with my NH Chase bet on him, and I’m not wanting him to finish the season off with a big run over hurdles.
1830 At 25’s, I think O’Toole looks a wee bit overpriced. Certainly considering an EW, as he looks one to follow.
1900 Excellent race this, and happy to add two to go with Ten Ten, but trying to pick two from three…..
Annamix
Midnight Maestro EW 7
Or Jaune De Somoza EW 7Tough one.
Good luck today guys
April 28, 2021 at 14:59 #1538328My two against the field in the two handicaps today:
3.40 Bigz Belief & Master Artist
7.00 Black Op & Or Jaune De SomozaNot the done thing to select GB handicappers against the Irish BUT I really think Black Op as been given a chance off this rating. This is a much more realistic class than recent runs, although he hasn’t been disgraced against his betters.
Or Jaune De Somoza is better than recent form figures suggest and will pop up at a decent price sone time.April 28, 2021 at 15:05 #1538330The double was with skybet Jack but I think they have slashed the price on it since he’s shortened a lot for today
In fact I cant find the win today and A/R one on there anymore
They only have win today and win the 3 mile novice chase that I can see
And that is 22/1, it was 66s on Monday

A right old head scratcher…
Mt leinster gold
On handicap debut looks progressive off top weight big issue inexperience but has done everything asked of him. Has plenty of point to point experience too.
Fallak ran in this race in 2019 (4th)and has been going well regularly at Dundalk
Sullaine Hill won two in November beating Cousin Harry by six lengths so is an interesting sort going up in trip.
Comb tricast. E/w 66/1 win 7/1 e/w 18/1April 28, 2021 at 15:28 #1538340Guiri and The Great White for me in the opener, 8/1, and 6/1
April 28, 2021 at 15:53 #1538346Great stuff Autumnal and WD Sam with the big ew on Sullane Hill
April 28, 2021 at 16:03 #1538347Got to stick with Heather Rocco for the win in the next, and Gevrey ew 4pl
April 28, 2021 at 16:09 #1538351Thank you Greenasgrass, I’m going with Gelee Blanche at 12/1 in the 1615
April 28, 2021 at 16:14 #1538352going with born Patriot and Geelee Blanche both each way here. A lot of these of been going in the soft and Geelee Blanche appreciated the good ground and connections are looking to summer campaign
April 28, 2021 at 16:26 #1538353Brilliant work VtC and really pleased for the owner who sometimes posts here under the name of his good horse Bay of Freedom. I hope this one goes on and wins plenty more for him.
Think Heather Rocco must have choked or bled – that’s the second time he has suddenly engaged reverse gear so think will leave him alone for now.April 28, 2021 at 16:39 #1538354Well done VtC, a nice winner that.
I’ve went with Fastorslow 20/1 ew with 4 places
April 28, 2021 at 16:47 #1538356I’ve gone with Fastorslow ew as well and Fighter Allen for the win.
April 28, 2021 at 17:00 #1538358We got a good run there Greenasgrass.
I can’t split the pair at the head of the market in the next, so I’ve gone 10/1 Crosshill
April 28, 2021 at 17:00 #1538360Lifetime Ambition looks a good one for next year.
Stattler 8s ew for me next- I found Ruby’s theory of the DRF 2m6f race being a hard one and possibly knocking him back for the Albert Bartlett quite interesting- though it’s a really good race and I’d love to own any of them.
April 28, 2021 at 17:08 #1538362I’ve also went with Kemboy at 7/2 in the big one.
I was going to just watch without a bet, but I think he’s got a good chance here.
April 28, 2021 at 17:27 #1538364WD Jack he hacked up
