Thanks RF it’s a damn nonsense they won’t let people post on U-Tube which is like a free advert fror racing. Can understand them banning racing forums etc usng them for commercial use but it’s great for Joe Public to be able to look back at these great races. That was an awesome performance and she looked better than ever
Someone posted this before which is a great site for international races on video http://world-horse-racing.blogspot.com/

How good was she? If you can Imagine Sea the Stars with a rocket tied to his ass that would give you a clue

Really hard to say as she was never really extended having won all her races hands and heels but she ws very very good. I think Timeform reckoned she was the best in the last 20 years.
I doubt if the winner we have just seen would have lived with her at any trip
August 2, 2009 at 20:37 #242318i think this filly will beat rip van winkle if they meet she has so much pace
August 2, 2009 at 21:07 #242323There was an interesting bit in the Observer about RVW; said he was the sickliest foal ever…..if so, he could be playing catch up with a lot of these 3 year olds.
August 2, 2009 at 21:20 #242326Had Goldikova and Bobs Pride in a double; never had a worry in either race.

Goldikova is a real star. There is no filly around that could touch her over a mile (ghanaati maybe get closest). The Breeder’s Cup Mile looks ate her mercy once again.

Yeah I’ve been thinking about the best 10 horses of the 2000s and obviously Zarkava was first on my list, for personal and factual reasons. Not sure if people know this but from the horses Zarkava beat (easily, cantering and without ever being hit), 7 horses have won 14 Group 1s between them; Goldikova 5, Halfway to Heaven 3, Vision D’Etat 2, Dar Re Mi 1, Getaway 1, Ask 1 and Folk Opera 1. And you have to wonder how many more Goldikova, Vision D’Etat and Ask are gonna rack up between them.
I very much doubt I’ll see a horse as good as her in my lifetime again, although of course I have a very open mind to it. Actually my only regrets about the my love affair with her is that a) I wasn’t there for the Vermeille, and b) I didn’t catch Soumillon’s helmet.

August 5, 2009 at 01:06 #242565Goldikova would beat Rip just a better horse but it is a shame we may never see it happen. What are the plans for Goldikova and what horses may go against her.
August 5, 2009 at 01:18 #242568Gladiatorus in the Jacques le Marois, possibly Paco Boy too. I’m hoping they’ll skip the Moulin after and go for the QE2 instead.
