I agree completely with the last phase of Aragorn post. However even Aidan likes to have a fallback position. So he will run another real threat. What it will be will be determined by the going.Heavy going one not unlike SOF,good going DOM.
September 24, 2008 at 23:45 #182208Surprise surprise O’Brien confirms Septimus has gone into quaranteen and the Melbourne Cup is his aim.
September 25, 2008 at 01:42 #182220In to quarentine, out of quarentine what does it mean? Can you go to Australia without it? Aidan always covers all options just in case.
?
September 25, 2008 at 01:49 #182221He confirmed he is in quaranteen with the intention of the Melbourne Cup being his aim. If you still have some hope, go waste your money backing the horse at 55/1 on Betfair.
September 25, 2008 at 01:58 #182222…yet AOB said in the RP today that if the ground comes up soft at Longchamp he could be taken out of quarantine. If he was a definite non runner he’d be 200-1+ by now on BF.
Interesting that Kamsin has been thrown into the frame with the right ground today. Those layers that layed 500-1 a few nights ago must be a tiny bit nervous (Not saying that Kamsin will definitely win but would you lay a supplemented runner at 500-1?)
September 25, 2008 at 12:42 #182238I am not saying that Septimus will run or won’t run. What I am saying is that Aidan will keep his options open until the last moment.Going into quarentine keeps his options open. That is all it does.It does not mean that he will run or not run in Paris. The going will determine whether he runs or not.
September 25, 2008 at 15:15 #182251If you are going to scratch your long-time jockey for a horse (ie. Richard Hughes & Youmzain) at least make sure the new jockey is actually an improvement and not RIchard Hills!
September 26, 2008 at 19:11 #182417Looks as if "The Duke" will show up at Longchamp for the Arc.
I really hope he will, what a duel against the Aga’s filly…September 26, 2008 at 19:16 #182418This year reminds me a bit of Shirocco v Hurrican Run v Deep Impact, only for the forgotten Fabre horse Rail Link to beat them all.
Could it happen again? Getaway!
September 27, 2008 at 08:28 #182474Soldier Of Fortune to the USA instead of Frozen Fire?

Looks like that could be a possibility

Glenn obviously hasn’t seen this post yet
September 29, 2008 at 15:29 #182683At what stage of the week can we expect the field to start taking shape ?
September 29, 2008 at 17:23 #182706Tourbillon, by Wednesday the field should be pretty much definite.
I think that Zarkava is the one to beat. She’s absolutely outstanding.
Now that New Approach is definitely not running, my money is going to go for the exacta Zarkava-Getaway.
Good luck for Europe’s Premier race for everyone!
September 29, 2008 at 23:48 #182759I’m starting to think Getaway is the forgotten horse this year as well. He looked a beast when he won at Newmarket then disappointed in the Coronation (iffy track may not have suited him) and then next time on soft ground, but he returned to form last time on better ground albeit against weaker opposition and he did run a blinder in the Arc last year. I do like Zarkava but the slowness out of the stalls worries me that she may be feeling something (also the way she carries her tail awkwardly).
September 30, 2008 at 00:43 #182769De Royer Dupre was asked about that on ATR today and he didn’t seem concerned. I remember Carson saying that about Hurricane run in the Niel and I remember that putting me off. He duly dotted up.
There must be some veterinary truth in it though.
September 30, 2008 at 01:03 #182774My views have not really changed. Still think Papal Bull is the second most talented horse in the race. Disappointed that Prospect Wells didn’t make it, but think Vision D’Etat is a suitable substitute as the progressive 3yo French colt.
Will probably only have one bet, a bit each-way on Papal Bull at 25/1 or maybe on the PMU. Possibly try & get a bit of place only money on him nearer the time as well.
