Seamie has not done a thing wrong in his 3 rides on SYT.
However the races he has ridden him in have had 5 & 6 runners. He has little or no experience of Longchamp and the Arc is often a rough affair with many hard luck stories, year on year.
Fallon has the experience and is the man for me, he has shown nerves of steel come the big day, and they don’t get bigger than the this. Hurricane Run, Dylan Thomas, been there, got the t shirt.
They must be tempted despite his foolishness in taking the Recital ride in the Derby when he was already booked.
Sign him up Coolmore!
September 25, 2011 at 20:35 #372035Couldn’t agree with you more. You go for the best with the best.No favors, no fears. No fumbling, no mumbling. No could have, no should have, no would have. You have the best horse. You need the best jockey.Just put the man up and go for it.Frankie won’t let you down.I mean Fallon,****.Is poop a bad word?
September 25, 2011 at 20:42 #372036Interesting views guys. So your go to guy is a jockey that has ridden 1 Group 1 winner in 2 seasons if I am not mistaken.
Wouldn’t go there if the horse was mine, I’d use the jock who knows the horse , or one who is used to riding big race winners or is regularly successful at the track (and not in the past).
Still differing opinions are what makes the forum interesting.September 25, 2011 at 20:44 #372037To clarify guys my comments relate to Fallon , not Dettori
September 25, 2011 at 21:56 #372048Agree with the benefits of a regular Longchamp jockey.
However in respect of Fallon only riding 1 G1 winner since his return, I don’t think that stack up at all. He has not had enough G1 mounts but only has himself to blame for that.
Ryan Moore had not won a classic until he rode an Oaks/Derby double last year (the first jockey to do so since….Mr Fallon!) As the say form is temporary, class is permanent. And Fallon has more class, more experience and a lot more G1 wins and Longchamp experience than Seamie.
I will be delighted if Seamie keeps the ride and wins but talking through my pocket would be pleased if they put Kieran up.
September 26, 2011 at 13:52 #372097Heff has to get the ride or its a disgrace.
He gave SYT a great great ride in the Eclipse.
He deserves his shot at the biggest race in Europe on a Horse he knows perfectly well unlike the rest of those big names Jockeys.
Even Ryan Moore got him beat. Good Horses make Good Jockeys not the other way round

In relation to Steven Arnold’s ride on Star Witness in the Kings Stand you are talking ill informed rubbish. The horse was slow to begin, which is not the first time this has happened. Arnold rated him beautifully after the slow start and worked his way into a winning position at the furlong. Prohibit probably came from behind Star Witness to beat him, the effort after a slow start was the telling factor. But most of all you question Arnolds strength in a finish!!! Are you for real? Arnold is as strong in a finish as any rider in the world, go and educate yourself in regards to jockeys and rides before you make ridiculous comments.Read what I said again Jollyp.
Arnold is indeed a strong jockey, which is why I find the fact he was so weak in the finish for the Kings Stand so puzzling. A more forceful ride in the closing stages may well have got Star Witness home.
Then in the Jubilee, too forceful. Going for home too soon in a strongly run race, on softer ground, over a furlong further. ie Despite the horse having plenty of speed over 5f on good, he made it even more of a test of stamina (comparitively) at the 6f trip on soft.I’m not judging Arnold (as a rider) on two poor rides at Ascot. (No doubt he’s a good jockey, at least in his homeland). As others should not judge Ninomiya, the Japanese jockey on one perfectly reasonable ride when second in the Arc; away from his homeland. No disgrace being out-gunned by Ryan Moore.
Though the way British press reacted to Arnold’s rides, contrasts greatly when any European rider/trainer makes any sort of mistake in Australia.
Value Is EverythingSeptember 26, 2011 at 14:08 #372100Back to the Arc.
Already backed Workforce ante-post.
Now taken the 20/1 each way Snow Fairy.
Got close to So you Think in the Irish Champion and (unlike that horse) is sure to be equally effective at this trip. Yet despite that is available at four times the price. Yes, her old rival stands a better chance than her, but not by that much! With an indian summer, going looks to be coming in Snow Fairy’s favour. Should be half current odds come the day, at least with our bookmakers. Paris-mutuel may be another thing entirely.Value Is EverythingSeptember 26, 2011 at 15:47 #372105Reliable Man out to 17/1 on Betfair, is his participation in doubt also?
Draw will be key so keeping my antepost money in my pocket although Snow fairy is a tempter, comes into her own this time of year and has improved with each run this season plus the drying ground in her favour….am talking myslef into a bet here!
September 26, 2011 at 15:56 #372106Presumably Pants, the likely ground is against Reliable Man. Won French Derby on a soft surface, then disappointing on a firm surface in the Grand Prix De Paris before bouncing back with give underfoot in the Niel.
Value Is EverythingSeptember 26, 2011 at 17:39 #372115So You Think latest to drift badly…out to 9.2 on Monday afternoon. Any news anyone?
September 26, 2011 at 17:57 #372116The problem is the Arc is not about jockeys ,it is about horses. The best jockey, regardless of sentiment should ride.

Aidan better ask Lester to come out of retirement then.
September 26, 2011 at 18:28 #372119Andy you should know that Frankie and Coolmore do not mix
September 26, 2011 at 19:31 #372129I would suggest that Dettori isn’t even in the equation over the ride as he has publicly pinned his hopes on Snow Fairy running
September 26, 2011 at 21:09 #372133The closer to the race you get the more unreal the "best available jockey" theory becomes. The whole thing is a laugh sadly.Aidan will have his way with OD,Heffo and Joseph all riding in the ARC for fun.Michael Tabor seems to have distanced himself from the whole mess!Watch this page.
September 26, 2011 at 21:40 #19706I have been having a bit of a debate on the effect of the draw for the Arc. What are your opinions ? Very important or is it over hyped ?
