Well, that’s about right make a statement and get called a racist.
Ginger your old fashioned and living in the past, wake up this country and the west sold out to migrants and human rights lawyers.
I suppose that statment is racist.November 19, 2021 at 15:06 #1568067I have not called you a racist, Troy.
However, your “they (rich bankers) are behind all wars” theory very much sounds as if you’re being influenced by anti-semitic extremists – whether you know it or not.I am right of centre myself and have issues with human rights lawyer lefties and don’t agree with how easy it is for migrants to settle here. But I’d rather that than a far right government.
Value Is EverythingNovember 19, 2021 at 18:16 #1568094It’s always the fault of the ‘lefties’ isn’t it? Never the party that’s been in power for 11 years and now has an 80 seat majority.
Troy has a point about the money to be honest. They are quite happy to throw endless cash at ‘defence’ (I have it on good authority that the amount of money blown up the wall by the military would make your eyes water) but not so much at helping out those who have done the work on the ground and suffered as a result. The RBL apparently raises about £50 million per year. Pocket change to the government, not even £2 per taxpayer.
November 20, 2021 at 18:21 #1568321£50 million per year, and am I right that they have many thousand volunteers collecting. London Marathon hits £1bn cumulative fundraising milestone in 2019. Cancer charities still asking for donations, my friend once said his daughter was employed as a charity fundraiser, excellent wage, new car perks and expenses.
I don’t give to charities, do your research you’ll see how much is paid to their CEO’s etc.November 22, 2021 at 09:35 #1568502Whilst there are undoubtedly overpaid people stealing a living at some charities (what organisation doesn’t have this?) they do need to pay competitive salaries to attract the best people. I’d want good accountants for example so that the money is used as efficiently as possible. They quite rightly won’t work for cheap or free.
November 22, 2021 at 09:57 #1568504“They do need to pay competitive salaries to attract the best people.”
Sorry Richard, I do not buy that argument. It is the excuse used to pay over inflated salaries to mediocre or terrible people.
Most of the time these self described “best people” are self important and the only talent they have is for self promotion.
I have encountered several at work. They always know best, never listen and normally just piss everyone off. They always take the credit (even if their contribution was minimal) and always make sure someone else gets the blame when it goes wrong.
Then when they realise they are about to be found out, they make sure they quit and go somewhere else so someone else has to clear up the trail of destruction they have left behind.
Spare me from the “best people”, please!!
November 22, 2021 at 11:06 #1568511In the 19th century we had poor houses and charity, in the 20th century the concept of higher taxation and a well-funded Public Sector was introduced, in the 21st century we are slowly returning to the 19th century.
1% on income tax would have raised up to 150 times what Children In Need raised Friday night.
But few want tax over charity – most top rate tax payers don’t want it, many basic rate payers don’t want it.
And attention-seeking tools in fancy dress on a “sponsor my inane activity which is about as funny as a blood clot,” who frankly deserve a good kicking, certainly don’t want it.

Richard is right again.
To get people who can do a good job you must pay them a good salary.
That’s not to say some won’t let the side down.Oooooooh,
Am I turning left??
