BBC teatime quiz show….
Only 1 person out of 100 asked could name the knighted "Racehorse trainer of horses such as Frankel and Midday"
The PR people have a mountain to climb.
May 1, 2012 at 18:05 #402719It’s probably about right that one in a hundred people are interested in racing and would know, of the rest some might end up at a racecourse for a party, works do or music night but more than 9 out of 10 people associate racing with gambling which they disagree with, corruption and cruelty.
Racing gets enough bad publicity from corruption and cruelty and problems with getting racing on, jockeys whipping horses etc and it is this the PR dept should be trying to deal with, not worrying about who does what.
May 1, 2012 at 18:50 #402727I like the idea of being in an elite one percent of the population who knows of the talents of Sir Henry Cecil. It’s surely a sign of having the right priorities in life. Rather that than being in the eighty (?) percent who can name any entrant or winner of The X Factor.

May 1, 2012 at 20:49 #402739I like the show and saw this – i was gutted that the winning team didn’t go for the "Jockey’s" option in the final so i could feel smugly intelligent for once.

the jockeys option was picked today by the winning team the question was name any jockeys who won flat jockey championship from 1950 onwards there were five pointless answers anybody like to see if they can name any the jackpot was £9750
May 10, 2012 at 20:16 #403811Michael Roberts, Kevin Darley, Seb Sanders would have to be low on most people’s radar.

May 10, 2012 at 22:25 #403828I dont have a television so I have only seen it on visits to my parents, though they much prefer to watch the Chase.
May 11, 2012 at 11:32 #403871I think we were going to do a racing-specific version of it on TFR and call it
Point-to-Pointless
. Not sure why the trail’s gone a bit cold on that one since, though.
