July 27, 2004 at 12:49 #54503Hi Kersley,
I’ve been using a similar method for a while now so i think you will do well with this.
Good luck anyway! ;)

July 27, 2004 at 14:27 #54504Cheers Woody thats encouraging.Did your approach pick Maraahal? It won well, satisying when it works out like that,if only it was always like that.
Good luck with your approach.

July 27, 2004 at 16:17 #54505Hi Kersley,
No, i didn’t pick out Maraahal with this method although it was highlighted by a couple of others.
The last bets were Gifted Gamble and Doyen which i notice you also had.
The method i’m using picks out shorter-priced selections but they are pretty consistent.
Here are the last 14 bets for my method:

Selection – SP – Result
-
- Elusive Dream 0.33 1
- Mister Monet 0.57 1
- Arrgatt 0.11 1
- Hanseatic League 0.00 NR
- Pastoral Pursuits 1.88 1
- Tulipa 0.40 1
- My Paris 0.91 1
- Tonic Du Charmil 0.80 1
- Presto Shinko 2.75 UP
- True Magic 1.00 1
- Lady Le Quesne 0.67 1
- Coy 1.50 1
- Alinda 0.91 1
- Doyen 1.10 1
- Gifted Gamble 0.80 1
It hasn’t always done as well as this but the winning runs are nice!
The fact that you have a minimum price filter should mean a lower strike-rate but the winnings will be bigger when they come so it should work out quite well.
Best of luck with it!
woody

July 29, 2004 at 10:06 #54507Woody, with a method that produces winning runs like that at short prices do you use a staking plan.
I think Mr E`s rolling doubles would work perfectly with your method.
Cheers, Andy.

July 29, 2004 at 13:01 #54509I think this is quite a good approach and also a good way to use the RP.
I do my own ratings using the paper’s two ratings services and horse profiles and most of woody’s winners were top-rated, although I didn’t back all of them.
The only reservation is that the horses are frequently overbet because they are also top-rated in numerous other publications/computerised methods. As a result, it is hard to turn shorter priced selections into profit.
I’ve mentioned before on the forum that it’s better to be operating in the 5/1+ range, but good luck nevertheless.
July 29, 2004 at 22:48 #54510Looks like another good day kersly – well done!
I hope you don’t mind me answering andy’s question on here – i don’t want you to feel like i’m taking over this thread!
——————————
Andy,
With short prices like this, you have to use a staking plan in order to keep your interest as the the level-stake profit is soooo slow!
I use a variation of the 5% rolling bank method – this seems to work well enough for what i’m after.
Kersly’s method has done very well the last couple of days and, as i expected, has outclassed my method in terms of level-stake profit! :(
—————————–
Cheers,
woody
July 30, 2004 at 12:59 #54511Artemis
Perhaps the prices are short because of over exposure by rating services. At the moment I haven’t an approach that can provide sufficient 5/1+ winners
woody
Always interested in any comments, contributions welcome.
