LOL I was so confused as to why the bookies were all offering much worse place terms than usual for a major, I thought it was the US open this week!

Will get some bets on for sure, best of luck with your picks Darren.

Just seen Coral go top 12 but e/w placings is 1/6th odds! Value wise still may be better than taking top 8 for 1/5th odds with practically the same odds if picking one of the favourites with the goal of getting some money back.

Rory McIiroy 11/1 looks tempting with those terms. He’s 14/1 with firms going top 7 e/w too, that’s also tempting. Big overreaction to his flop at Augusta, time away to rest his mind and practice for here will have done him the world of good. Despite placing highly at Augusta before he always actually bottles it there, playing horrendously bad the first round because the pressure gets to him, only to finish amazingly well once the pressure is off and he has no realistic chance of winning, so it’s not like this year was anything new, and it’s not like he hasn’t shown he can bounce back from that before.

Cam Smith 33/1 and Max Homa 40/1 too that look overpriced too. Homa usually plays his best when the spotlight isn’t on him and with a few lesser performances since his top early season form I think those odds massively underestimate his chance.

Cam Smith too, only lost in a playoff to Dustin Johnson the other day and his putting and short game looked phenomenal on that outing, he seems bang in form, no idea why he’s 33/1 should be more like 16/1 tops.

Here is my shopping list for this one!!

    J RAHM 11/1 (Enhanced price)
    M HOMA 33/1
    S BURNS 40/1
    C KIRK 225/1
    H ENGLISH 190/1
    J NEUMANN 70/1

Most of them are ten places apart from Rahm who is only seven places but if he is at it then the places won’t matter LOL

Ended up doing the BigG bet and I’ve just gone for the 1st round leader market, hoping the afternoon tee time lads will be able to score lower once the course becomes a little easier.

All bets are 1st Round Leader and top 7 e/w

    Schauffle 25/1
    Homa 50/1
    Pereira 80/1
    Cameron Davis 125/1
    Sungjae 40/1
    Cameron Young 40/1
    Bezuidenhout 100/1

    Best of luck everyone!

Aaaargh  Bloody Adam Scott, at that point, was joint leader
at 4 under going onto the 18th. Praying for a birdie or at worst a
par, so what does he do……double bogie. I could have cried

As it happened Eric Cole got to 5 under, he’s making an arse of it
today 4 over after 9, so at best it would have been joint 1st round
    leader.

I suppose I can’t complain as both mine, Adam Scott 66/1 and Corey
Conners 80/1, both placed so it’s a decent start :good:

Bad luck with your 1st round winner experiment Ben, I’ve done quite
well with it in the past, but it means I keep it to 2 or 3 as I play
for the outright too and it can get expensive. Better luck next time
    mate :good:

Cheers Graham, I don’t think I could have done any worse with those selections if I’d tried!! None of my 7 were under par for their first round lol!!! Cam Davis finishing tied 4th was a bit of a kick in the balls

Well done with your picks though mate! Unlucky about Adam Scott though, not sure if he’s suffering from injuries or just general back pain due to his age but he doesn’t seem to be able to finish off a tournament these days.

I bet the PGA was delighted to hand the trophy to a LIV player…

I cannot get motivated by the PGA, even more so since its move in the calendar. It is in effect a second US Open, without the prestige. A Championship with no identity of its own.

    https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2023/may/20/golf-us-pga-championship-august-may-rejigged-calendar

The staging of 3 of golf’s 4 majors in the USA is no longer credible. In that respect the LIV Tour has a point. The game is global now.

The PGA should be downgraded and a new major introduced in either Europe or the Far East, or maybe it could move around between countries.

I like that shout Raymo! I think the Aussies deserve a major as they love the sport and have produced so many world class players. I’d be happy to see South Korea get one too though considering their love for the game as well, maybe your idea of an Asian/Australisian major would be the best shout.

Though could easily see a worldwide major catching on too, as the likes of Spain and South Africa contribute more than their fair share to golf and this would help boost the sports gravitas in countries where it isn’t so well loved yet.
