They’re not afraid of running their horses and all of them seem to be very sound.
Tim trains Count D’Orsay, a nine year old with 96 lifetime starts, Temper Trap (8yo) 79 starts, Music Society (10yo) 89 starts, Poets Dawn (10yo) 107 starts (2nd at Ripon six days ago). Just to name a few…
Can’t find any trainers with comparable numbers. It must be a “family” thing.
June 10, 2025 at 20:05 #1732714“The bit that caught my attention was the fact that Night Nurse and Sea Pigeon ran 167 times between them.”
Someone should tell that to Henderson.
June 10, 2025 at 20:13 #1732715He would need oxygen if someone uttered that to him.
The more I know the less I understand.
June 10, 2025 at 20:38 #1732716To be fair, I expect the race programme has changed a lot since those days. But the fact both horses ran so many times, kept coming back for more and still performed to a high standard shows that horses can withstand plenty of racing.
Stop wrapping them up in cotton wool!

Unless he’s retired, they are going the softly, softly approach with this beast this season

June 11, 2025 at 16:13 #1732733Nathan, it appears Music Society has been retired. He is on the BHA’s non-racing agreements list with a date of 25 February 2025.
June 12, 2025 at 14:48 #1732795I heard Jim McGrath talking to Tom Stanley on the Nick Luck podcast. McGrath said one day Tim Easterby was at Ascot and telephoned his father to suggest a horse shouldn’t run because the ground was good to firm. Easterby senior told him to stop that sort of talk and said the horse was running.
I wonder if McGrath may have been indirectly having a go at someone? I can’t imagine who.
June 28, 2025 at 21:00 #1734998By the way, why was Miles Henry called Peter?
June 30, 2025 at 23:21 #1735265Great trainer and great man.
I was allowed to meet and pat both the greats i.e. Night Nurse and Sea Pigeon as a birthday present as a youth.
Only thing I can’t forgive him for , was allowing Little Owl to prevent Night Nurse winning the Gold Cup.
Only joking.
May you rest in peace , and my condolences to you and yours. - AuthorPosts
