Nearly a year ago there was a TRF poll as to whether Paul Roy should resign from the BHA. I’m interested to see a year down the line if the TRF opinion has changed much since then, at the time it was a resounding 95% yes vote to a 5% no and no votes from those who sit on fences.

So I simply ask, have you any confidence in Paul Roy to continue ruling the sport of horse racing?
October 27, 2011 at 16:45 #374427Personally I’m not into automatically blaming the man at the top.
I’m not sure how they come to policy decisions but I would imagine he takes advice from others
If he has been ill advised then he should clean up shop when this mess is sorted out and be seen doing so.
It’s a tough one to be honest without knowing the facts.
October 27, 2011 at 19:39 #374458Fair points Hurdy, it isn’t totally Roys fault that we unfortunately find racing in such a poor state but it is under his leadership that we do so and racings supporters are clearly losing confidence in his ability to lead and ‘steir’ the sport out of the mire.
I don’t believe he is the man to do this as he has shown over the past year with situations such as his involvement with betfair, the whip fiasco, inability to sort racings funding problems, the buck stops with Roy and I’m amazed he is still in his position.

Roy, 59, will lead BHA for a three-year term when it begins operation in early 2007. BHA will combine the British Horseracing Board’s (BHB) governance responsibilities and the regulatory functions of the Horseracing Regulatory Authority (HRA).
He outstayed his welcome and it’s time to go.
Oh yeah, he can take half of them with him and get some people in who understand what this sport needs.

When pushed by Nick Luck, Roy actually admitted, albeit reluctantly, that as Chairman of the BHA he does ultimately take responsibility for what happens and so it should be.
If you take the money you take the responsibility.
That aside Roy is an embarrassment, totally lacking in credibility, who should have gone after the Betfair saga.
There are many reasons why Roy should go but he somehow seems to be made of Teflon.
October 27, 2011 at 20:05 #374466Incredulous to me, Paul, that he should be allowed to continue in the role after his link to Betfair was made public. Absolutely incredulous.
October 27, 2011 at 20:17 #374469Incredible that McPherson has not resigned or stepped aside until after his appeal hearing from the rules committee but then BHA does not do resignations
October 27, 2011 at 20:31 #374473I have supported your thread tb with a resounding YES and everyone else who contributes to this forum should at least vote as TRF is very well read by those who ‘think’ they can run the show.Incidentally who’s the 3 who have voted ‘Dont Know’?? Ffs!

Silvoir, Roy and Stier!
Not sure of the latter twos usernames?
October 28, 2011 at 09:33 #374520This question shouldn’t need asking. His clash of interests caused by his link to Betfair should have seen him out the door.

It was signal proof of the lack of respect for BHA within the sport and its allied industries that he
didn’t
exit at that point. Nobody with any influence could really be bothered enough to "press home the charges", which tells us plenty about UK Racing’s state of governance right now, and the amateurish level at which it is maintained.
I am not sure what he thinks he can achieve
for himself
by staying on much longer now. It’s been evident for a long time that he can’t achieve anything for Racing, but I’m afraid that minor point doesn’t seem to concern him.
Mr Stier has no utility left either. His abrasive style and bludgeoning methods don’t work in an organisation which simply does not have the muscle to back him up his gung-ho verbals with credible action – as we currently see, to our pain.
October 28, 2011 at 10:04 #374536THE MAN WITH NO SHAME
– just **** off now, please.
However, I would guess that he will hang on until the High Court have kicked out the Judicial Review, which he has insisted upon, of the Levy Board Consultation on Betfair uses paying Levy.
But, then again this cheeky **** may still decide to pocket the c.£100,000 a year for his two day a week job with the BHA for a few years more.

Well I voted don’t know because I don’t know enough about the man to make a judgement.
Maybe I should just take your word for things and follow on like a sheep?
I do recall there was a previous vote where 98% said hang him.
It would seem as he is still around your idea that this forum being well read by the BHA has as much affect on them, as your outburst of "do as I say" has on me.
Voting is certainly not a duty, it is just a right and if one wishes to decline you should have the good manners to respect their decision without going off like a dictator.
October 28, 2011 at 10:52 #374543Nothing to do with the whip debate, but yes Roy should go.
Value Is EverythingOctober 28, 2011 at 20:15 #374604I can’t think of any group of people who support him. Those who follow racing think he’s a complete …. Those who don’t follow racing don’t know or care.
