Anyone see the strength of this guy yesterday in the finale at York? not just because I backed it but this was a great ride, he practically lifted the horse over the line.
I’d like to see him win the jockeys title now, think Hughes is a classier, more stylish rider but Paul deserves it more this season.
October 10, 2010 at 07:53 #321622It was a great ride!
Had a feeling he was going to get a short ‘holiday’ for interference earlier on in the race, do you know if he did?
Hope he wins the title, I’ve been backing him & his boss since they joined forces, between them they keep my betting kitty nicely topped up!
October 10, 2010 at 07:59 #321625Think he got Away with it, I was watching the race at home and shouted it home, great relief when he fought back
October 10, 2010 at 08:03 #321626Hanagan should have got a ban but didn’t
Think the York stewards looked after their Northern boy

Don’t think there’s any reason to believe Hanagan would deserve it more if Hughes rode more winners than him.
October 10, 2010 at 08:40 #321631Hanagan has got it in the bag now. Can’t lose.

Yes, we know that but you said he deserves it more this season whatever, that wouldn’t be the case if Hughes rode more winners than him.

He deserves it more because he doesn’t get the quality horses that Hughes gets, he rides for Fahey and smaller northern stables. Hughes has got the ammunition from Hannon, Bin Suroor and other giants.
October 10, 2010 at 08:59 #321635Has Hughes even had a ride for Bin Suroor this year?

He may get a better quality of horse overall but Hanagan gets more than enough point and shoot jobs up north

Richard rode an odds on chance for the boys in blue last night, Jaridh at Wolverhampton mate.
October 10, 2010 at 09:26 #321640Anyone looking for strength in the saddle this weekend need look no futher than Sir Richard Hills. Rallied to win the group 3 at Ascot on Saturday and galvanised Waseet at York on Friday to put his head in front where it mattered.
Unlike all the other imposters that people bang on about being strong in a finish, who invariably seem to be on steering jobs, he did it on two complete and utter rags.
October 10, 2010 at 09:34 #321642Don’t rate Richard Hills to be honest, ever since that shocking ride he gave
A horse at royal ascot this year, can’t remember the name of the horse, but was caught by Richard Hughes, I think on Strong Suit.Really annoying, wasn’t strong in the finish that day.

What happened to him on Zahoo (6/4) at Newbury on Thursday? should have hacked up. Haven’t seen such a weak effort from a "top" jockey for some time, there was also that one at Royal Ascot beaten by Strong Suit, if I fancy one and he’s on, it’s a negative for me.
October 10, 2010 at 09:45 #321647Yeah I backed Zahoo aswell, best horse in the race ridden shockingly.

Exactly, gets a lot of rides for horses for Hills, Noseda at northern meetings this season.

That makes it one ride each for the season then for Godolphin
October 10, 2010 at 10:18 #321663ZAhoo is very one paced and a return to 12f must be imminent, don’t think there was a lot more to get out of that horse over 10f.
