Easy stream of consciousness levity ?
It is like listening to a pub bore !
April 19, 2004 at 21:54 #92978I tend to think Haigh bumped into Down in a sleazy corridor and gave him ammunition and inspiration for his fine sheep article of last week. Either that or he reads me.;)
April 19, 2004 at 22:03 #92979Ian it’s a mad hatter world
April 19, 2004 at 22:11 #92980I was living in a slum in Shoreditch at the time Haigh wrote about his daily visits to the east end bookies in bethnall green road…drat forget the name, little green shops, but I used them of occasion and checked the shop for a bully face with a grin…never saw him. He might have seen me trotting up the road.
April 19, 2004 at 22:22 #92981Come on Turtle – you’ve got four feet like me- give me the name of those bloomin shops.
Haigh touches the common man chord without being too flatcap – he uses maffs.
April 20, 2004 at 17:02 #92982No idea about the little green shops Gamble. It’s a long haul for a turtle from Wales to the East End. Unlike Paul, I never made it.
April 20, 2004 at 17:22 #92983Hmmm, a 6pm posting.
A suitable time to end a racing day, mixed in with some pen work. The wig doesn’t fool a detective of my staure. You are either Haigh himself, or connected to the man by birth, marriage, or drinking slate.
April 20, 2004 at 18:35 #92984Well I used to be on another racing site that talked horses but found everyone there totally self absorbed and cliquish so left some months ago.<br>Just started posting here today and hope we can get some real discussion going.

In my dreams, Gamble, in my dreams…

April 20, 2004 at 21:54 #92986Welcome Saddlers Wells, hopefully you’ll find it here.
April 20, 2004 at 22:28 #92987I will second that :o , but as they say nothing is certain in this life. I got short shrift too in the Talking site when I went out of kilter with the mods – they deleted all my posts and I am a name they care to forget. I noticed Merlin led a double life for a time, but I don’t know if he still posts there.
Strangely enough Grasshopper I do see a lot of clarity in Haigh’s pieces. ÂÂÂ

Sadlers, what name did you post under on the place where they talk horses? Your username here doesn’t exist there. Merlin is still there and posts frequently. It is possible to be a member of more than one place.
April 22, 2004 at 09:47 #92991I see the latest member is called ‘Zorro’ ! Now where have I heard that before ? Perhaps Mr Haigh is closer than you think…
April 22, 2004 at 18:25 #92992So we’re all left wondering if it is the real Zorro or someone taking the p***. No doubt Zorro will make his presence known in due course.
April 22, 2004 at 18:48 #92993With a big "Z".:o
