What are pair of wimps Angus MacNae and Dave Nevison are retreating to the Kempton bar to present the racing because it’s raining.
Good job the jockeys and stall handlers didn’t decide to do the same thing.
Perhaps could try taking an umbrella with them next time. Must have a great view of the horses sat in there lads. It’s just a bit of rain get outside and do your job.
November 19, 2007 at 16:16 #125700How much is it for a pint of bitter in there?
November 19, 2007 at 16:24 #125703If brickbats are being meted out to these two gents for avoiding the wet stuff, then it follows that bouquets go to Lydia and Steve for toughing out far worse weather at Cheltenham yesterday (ditto Lorna Bradburne, who was doing paddock reports at HQ for Betfair Radio all afternoon).
For real bravery in the face of x-rated weather, though, all the above-named should try race-reading at a Welsh point-to-point. January, March, May, it doesn’t matter – you’re still likely to cop for it. I think my notes from Ystradowen and Bonvilston might have dried out by now, but I wouldn’t like to say for certain.
Good job I like the rain…

November 19, 2007 at 16:45 #125708I thought retiring to the bar made eminently good sense, I’ll drink to that!!

November 19, 2007 at 17:19 #125716They’ve been using the RUK lounge at Kempton for the bulk of their recent meets, would imagine that won’t be the case at the King George meet as it will be full of ppl drinking (probably).
November 19, 2007 at 17:28 #125717If they gonna sit in a bar and look at monitors might as well just sit in a studio. How much of the racecourse can they see from in there?
November 19, 2007 at 18:09 #125731Saw Dave Nev at Cheltenham yesterday – I was freezing my nuts off taking bets in Tatts, he ventured out of the cosy press room in a smashing denim jack/jumper combination (same jumper he had on today at Kempton I believe) to back Sobers each-way with Colin Webster (finished third – thanks for the business). Didn’t see him again – light weight
