Never understand this myself.

January 19, 2009 at 21:13 #205166Plenty of free publicity for the company concerned, Lee, given the very high likelihood they would have to pay out anyway.
January 19, 2009 at 21:18 #205167I think I’ll have a few grand on it, could do with a guaranteed winner.
January 19, 2009 at 21:21 #205169Wish I had backed him with Paddy Power

Is there a limit to how much they will pay out with this EPO scheme?
January 19, 2009 at 21:22 #205170Great publicity for them. In fairness to Paddy Power, some of the concessions they offer are excellent. Whoever is in charge of their PR is doing a great job.
January 19, 2009 at 21:22 #205171Agreed Grass but next year if you’re going to have an ante post bet at the festival would you be more likely to have it on with PP because of this move ?
Personally it wouldn’t influence me at all and considering some of their liabilities could be around the evens mark it just seems a bit risky.
Maybe I’m just gutted I’m not on

January 19, 2009 at 21:25 #205172Looks like there’s no limit Fist with the firm announcing ANY ante post win singles will be paid out.

January 19, 2009 at 21:27 #205173Seems a little strange, and very generous
With a proposed run in the Game Spirit and the usual myriad training setbacks that can occur, is he a sound ~1/3 chance to actually turn up at Cheltenham two months hence?

Hardly, how much do you think they’ve taken for the beast?
January 19, 2009 at 21:38 #205178Didn’t they do something similar on Stoke to be relegated from the Premiership after a couple of games.
That looks like going right down to the wire the way the Premiership is going this season?January 19, 2009 at 21:47 #205179I know PP has done this on the football at least a couple of times before. I think last season they paid out on Manchester Utd winning the PL in September. They also paid out early on Chelsea in one the seasons they won it.
Along with the publicity I think there is also the theory that most of the winnings will are ‘reinvested’ anyway.
That Paddy Power strikes me as being as sharp as they come for promoting his business (he even popped up on our local news the other week) – I’m sure he’ll come out it ok.
January 19, 2009 at 21:58 #205182Didn’t Fred Done, a big Man Utd fan, once pay out on Man Utd mid-season only to see them pipped for the title in the final game?
January 19, 2009 at 22:56 #205193I reckon the Stoke payout will prove to be very ill judged. Their eight remaining home games don’t include any of the current top six and none of the opponents has a positive away record. Given how tough Stoke have been to beat at home, I reckon they’ll survive.

Master Minded was readily available at 6/4 for a quite a time with Paddy Power and others. Seems nuts for them to pay out as anything could happen between now and then…….but then I’m just sick I never backed him with them but I wouldn’t be surprised if my cash ended up there……..but I suppose they will have agreements with other bookmakers that voids them from the offer.

As long as they finish above Hull
January 20, 2009 at 00:01 #205214There is only so long stoke can kick people at home with out adding up the suspensions
January 20, 2009 at 00:18 #205219Let’s face it – barring a fall, Master Minded is a certainty.
Paddy Power are using that old ploy of hoping punters re-direct their winnings ….
and with any sense – back on to Master Minded.
