A maxium field of 17 goes to post tomorrow for the Paddy Power New Year’s Day Handicap Chase. I like quite a few here. Happygolucky is interesting with his form running against L’Homme Presse and Into Overdrive. He has been running over 3 miles the last races and I don’t know whether this step down to 2m4f will suit him. War Lord on the other hand is stepping up in trip and I think that will suit him. I would have backed him for the race at the December meeting, so I’ll give him another chance. Brave Seasca already proved last time that stepping up in trip helped him. He was very impressive at Aintree. He is the topweight here, but I kan see him inproving again.

    Brave Seasca 8/1
    War Lord 16/1

Lostintranslation for me. I think an improved placed effort here will be enough to keep him ticking over for Aintree, so with six places available here, I’ll get him around 66-1

    Happygolucky

I thought he ran a cracker last time after a year and a half on the sidelines, was getting a fair bit of weight off L’homme Presse but then again was giving Into Overdrive a fair bit also.

Was planning to have a go at him today if the rain came more but would still think something needs to go badly wrong for him to be out the places despite probably needing further. Very tempting if he drifts more

Lostintranslation is a big old price and is running off a mad mark.

Deyrann De Carjac is a couple pounds lower and wasn’t beaten a million miles last time out.

    They’ll be my two.

    WD winners :good:

Nassalam seemed to run in ‘snatches’; Moore seemed to be ‘at work’ most of the race.

So sad to see LIT run like that today , his Betfair performance was breathtakingly , I really wonder if the end may not be far away , my only guess is they try the Aintree fences again

Regarding LIT, I see he’s qualified to run in the Veterans Final next week at Sandown. Run him there if he’s okay with the turnaround, if he can’t do himself justice against his own sort of age group I’d be calling it a day if he was mine. He’s run in some really high quality races and probably just needs his sights lowered a bit/dropping in the handicap.

I love this race, some great names qualified should be a cracker Blaklion, Snow Leopardess, Potters Legend, De Rasher Counter, Elegant Escape, full list on this link Veterans Chase is the bottom option on the list under Jump Series https://support.racingadmin.co.uk/opencms/opencms/racing-admin-support/bha-notices/series_qualifiers/
