I have already answered the question I would suggest you look on the other thread.

Shame about the wedding though! Lydia is saving herself for a King!
January 15, 2010 at 18:59 #270114Fist’s response: Have you never heard someone say a horse was held up from the front? Get out more Ken.
Although, you might be good at reading a race Fist, you certainly do not seem to possess the same prowess when it came to reading, analysing and interpreting my above post.
Whatever gave you the idea I was disagreeing with you? If anything I was re-inforcing the explanation you had previously given, just taking the mental picture one length further on.
Never mind, I understand your defensiveness on the matter….

p.s. Not much point in going out these days when my beach-hut is just a few yards from the clear blue ocean. You know how it is, don’t you?January 15, 2010 at 23:06 #270152Does this thread mean that the entire forum will be tuning in to Timeform Radio (radio.timeform.com for those who need a link) tomorrow? I do hope so!
That would require the kind of fine tuning of radio or computer that I am useless at. I’ll give it a miss.
Oh and by the way I like The Morning Line and Channel 4’s coverage.
January 16, 2010 at 00:06 #270157Rory, thanks for the link. I wasn’t aware of this radio station via the ‘net previously. I look forward to listening in tomorrow.
KJanuary 16, 2010 at 11:29 #270194I was half-expecting Fist to come through the field with a late charge and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat but it seems he’s been held-up in last place…. and there he remains. Perhaps a change of tactics is called for?
KJanuary 16, 2010 at 16:19 #270235Fist,
Am fully aware a horse can be waited with from the front; but the form book will not describe this as "held up".
But may I remind you of what your first post said.
After listening to the absolute slagging Lydia Hyslop gave Sam Thomas on Timeform Radio yesterday, I thought I have to watch this.
The horse in question was Oh No Not Harry in the last race at Southwell yesterday.
After her excessively harsh word and her raving on about how Sam didn’t study any the previous races, didn’t allow for kick back etc etc etc I was expecting to see a real balls up of a ride.
So I watched and I watched and I watched! and I can’t see one thing wrong with the ride. Absolutely nothing!!!
Oh No Not Harry was with Jonjo O’Neill. The tried holding him up…he was beaten ridden by AP .They tried making the running he was beaten when Richard Johnson rode him.
Sam rode him time before last again holding him up and watching him yesterday and the way he finished I would say he’s best ridden that way.
She was ranting on about the kick back but as far as I could see the horse wasn’t the least bit bothered by it.
If he is a hold up horse and needs covered up, of course he’s going to get kick back.

For me this woman totally abused her prevelaged postion and owes Sam an apology, absolutely shocking behaviour from someone who should look before she leaps.
It is clear from the words…..
"If he is a hold up horse AND NEEDS COVERED UP";
that you were NOT (in this case) talking about a horse who is best waited with, at or near the front. You were talking about a horse who needs to be "COVERED UP".It is absolutely clear what you meant and it seems disingenuous of you to suggest otherwise.
Unless you can describe to me how a horse can be covered up from the front?
