November 27, 2008 at 03:44 #192496For all I couldn’t help but start this thread with the stupid title I thought I’d read on ‘Unions…’, I’m glad I’m not the only one on here who enjoys cooking!
Onions actually have a fair lot of use in my house too…. the basis for my favourite recipes….home made curry, seafood risotto, oh yes and with steak too!, and home made pizza, stuffing for roast dinners, and best for getting in from a cold day at the races in the NH season, a good slow-cooked venison casserole with plenty of red wine gravy.
Given the amounts of olives we go through at home, not to mention all the garlic and a multitude of herbs also nicked out of the garden throughout the year, it’s a wonder I’ve ever been asked out on a date in my whole life…

Venison…you’re making me very hungry. I love pickled and spring onions however my digestion system doesn’t. Too much detail coming up but I decided it was time to stop eating the above after a particularly nasty bout ( three quarters of an hour) of stomach pain which left me doubled up gripping the radiator whilst sat on the loo at three in the morning until the offending articles made there way out. It was a true "the world fell out of my bottom" moment. As this was about the fourth time this had happened I decided to abstain forthwith and haven’t touched one for about two years. I can just about manage cooked onion in a curry or stir fry but the pickled and spring are definitely out.
Hope I’ve not put anyone off their dinner.
November 27, 2008 at 17:01 #192553The red onion is my best friend in the kitchen. Unless Zoz happens to be in my kitchen, obvs.
November 27, 2008 at 17:49 #192561Aaaw. Mate, I think that’s the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me

Yeah, but you’ll never fit Zoz in a hot Thai chicken salad the same way.

Oh yeah, I did forget that it was Zome who made a Muslim theologian sit in a Paella and called the dish Mullah Rice.
And wasn’t it also Zome who suggested enveloping Gary Glitter in a white sauce, until we pointed out that would be a Nonce Tartar?
(sorry).
