On that I will agree. Loved his song Toast when he was part of Streetband.

You've got to accentuate the positive.
    Eliminate the negative.
    Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.

    I don’t drink, I don’t socialise, hence I never go in pubs.

And I don’t eat pork pies either.

I’d say more people die of too much alcohol than die of too little socialising.

Plus I have actually been in pubs in my time, of course, and they tend to be full of billynomates blokes who drink too much, inflict their unsolicited opinions on others too much and are the last people on Earth I’d want to socialise with.

My spirits are perpetually raised by giving all that the swerve.

    Cheers!

I always knew that anti social people like me would come into their own. It’s as if I’ve been practicing all of my life for the current situation.

You’re not “anti social,” Moehat – anti social behaviour involves actively being a nuisance to others.

You are instead something entirely different, namely “unsociable,” which is your prerogative and hurts no one, though those who profess to know what’s best for others and volunteer their opinion unsolicited might claim otherwise.

That’s true. Anyways, some people might think my life is pretty boring compared to pub going party animals but, guess what. The destruction caused by Arwen has resulted in a fallen tree near to one of my solitary walks giving up the skeleton of an old skeleton. I was only photographing said tree yesterday. It’s also in the grounds of a house where I used to live. Exciting or what!

Actually without going into boring details (and this is from another forum, not here) I’ve decided to try not to be so judgemental*. That and just finishing a Nick Hornby book ‘How to be Good’ which (obviously) questions what makes a good or bad person. Gives me something to think about when I’m tramping along trying to avoid skeletons. I’ve only just got over thinking there might be the ghost of a deceased Viking round ever corner as well!

The Iron Fort which overlooks Barbury Point-to-Point course has adjoining barrows, I believe.

It’s not quite “Fog On The Barrow Downs” (a shocking omission from the LOTR movies), but I always think it’s kinda spooky.

Absolutely love walking too. My gf Shirley even puts our walks on her youtube walking site. My idea of a good holiday is just us two getting a holiday cottage in the Lake or Peak District.

Up until July I used to live alone on the edge of little known Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty the North Wessex Downs; in a small hamlet called Upper Chute. Where David Elsworth spent his formative years and only a mile by track from Richard Hannon’s. Lovely unspoilt countryside 6 miles from the nearest shop.

Now bought a bungalow with Shirley and moved to the edge of the Mendips in deepest Somerset. Last week we walked the North Cheddar hills. Wow! Beautiful views. :good:

I like the Walking With series on BBC. The one with Nick Grimshaw from Warkworth to Amble was good because it featured the hermitage that I’ve never been able to get to as my rickety knees wouldn’t be able to get me into the boat that takes you to it.
