‘Michael Gove is possibly the most shameless backstabber in British political history – his own left hand cannot trust what his own right hand is doing.’
So, Mr Gove, when can you start?

Starmer 2.46
Sunak 7
Gove 11.5
Johnson 13.5
Mordaunt 17
Wallace 17.5
Badenoch 25An intriguing and highly-speculative market!

October 9, 2022 at 10:25 #1617923Just loving Cabinet members like Mordaunt – who openly trashed Truss on benefits last week – urging Tory MPs to rally round the hapless PM in the Sunday papers today.
Hard to find a Tory MP who hasn’t trashed Truss, hard to find a Cabinet Minister who hasn’t trashed Truss, hard to find a Cabinet Minister today calling for unity who hasn’t trashed Truss!

But I’ve realised he was only being decent about Afghanistan because he had personal experience of the place. When it comes to other issues he’s a typical Tory.

Moehat, you’ve fallen into the same trap all of us – me included – on the centre-left occasionally fall into.
You’re a nice person, you try to find good in everyone, in the summer Leadership contest you tried no doubt to find one to root for.
The likes of Tungendhat aren’t as heinous as the strident Right Wingers like Truss but, to avoid perennial disappointment, all us pinko types need to remember the bottom line that Tungendhat, like all of them, is “STILL A TORY.”

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 12, 2022 at 14:04 #1618197I’ve noticed that Truss occasionally answers questions with impressive succinctness and directness.
However, this only serves to make her evasiveness the majority of the time even more apparent and cringeworthy.
For all that, I don’t think Starmer laid a glove on her today – bit of a mutually blustering pointless no-score draw.

ie for or against Scottish Independence, but did anyone see Nicola
Sturgeon’s 1 hour speech yesterday. I saw it on my laptop, couldn’t
find a channel broadcasting it on the box. If she were leader of the
Tories or Labour, I think hey would be home and hosed. She was powerful
and (at least) seems to have integrity and a vision. One of the finest
speeches I’ve heard in a very long time. If I were Truss, I would be
uncomfortable having said Sturgeon was an attention seeker best ignored.
Unless she wants Scotland to leave the Union.October 12, 2022 at 19:10 #1618223I’m not sure that everyone in Scotland wants independence. I had friends there that were mightily relieved when the country voted to remain in the union. And I think those people will vote Labour. Imo a united country with a Labour government will rebuild it’s relationship with Europe and move towards rejoining the EU. I’ve always admired Sturgeon and also Blackford but I didn’t like the way he attacked Labour and Keir on Ch4 News the other night.

a for or against Independence. It was simply that it was a
great speech. She did comment that should the people of Scotland
don’t want Independence then the party will carry on trying
to deliver the best for Scotland. They do think the country
would do better without Whitehall, but it’s not the be all
and end all.October 12, 2022 at 23:06 #1618237I’d like to hear that speech Big G. Sometimes I get logged out of the forum and have to dig out my password and not long ago you said something to the effect of wanting Scotland and England to work together to get out of the mess we’re in ( or something like that). Anyway, whatever it was I wanted to thank you for it but couldn’t. When Johnson and Sturgeon were doing those covid daily briefings we always listened to hers as she made far more sense. I do admire her and would love to have her as a Labour MP.
